Greetings!
This is a topic that is always on my mind. I have three little girls ranging in age from 6-10. How do I keep them on track? I'm going to share some ideas for keeping their toys organized. Most importantly...set them up for success.
- Make it easy to clean up
- Open bins - so it is easy to put away, in addition they can take the bin wherever they want to play
- Labelled toy containers - with words or pictures of actual toy
- TEACH them how to clean up
- TEACH them they can have two toys out at a time - clean up when finished before getting a new toy
- Simplify - have them go through toys and pick out ones to give away, pass on to friends
- Rotate toys - avoid having "too many" toys out at once
- Use timer - for clean up - sing songs
What do you do with all those stuffed animals?
- Hang netting or hammock to hold stuffed animals
- Plastic sled for under the bed storage
One last tip...
- Post Checklists/Routines (picture or word chart) and put it in a page protector and have them check off each item with a dry erase marker
