I was chatting with my organized friend, Jodie, who has come up with a "lunch making system" at her house. She always felt rushed in the morning and came up with a system to promote independence in her children and less stress for all. Every Saturday, she spends time preparing lunches for the week. She does a "bulk" prep of all the items she can do ahead of time for lunches. She purchases yogurt and apple sauce by the large container and she portions it out into a week's worth of small containers. She portions out food such as grapes, carrots, crackers, cheese, any raw veggies, etc. She stacks all the containers at the back of her fridge and each morning, her children help themselves and take the portioned containers they want for the day. It is eco-friendly as she avoids purchasing the individual yogurt and apple sauce cups. The containers are clear so that everyone can see the contents. It makes for a quick pack each morning and the children have some choice to their daily lunches. Thanks, Jodie, for sharing your wisdom with us!
