From our organizing perspective you:

MUST HAVE shoe shelves or cubbies in your closets and entry way.  Shoes scattered everywhere makes a space look cluttered.  There are lots of options - such as the low variety that can go on the floor beneath the coat level or on the shelf above the bar.  You might consider a cubbie style that contains 12 or more squares to place your shoes in.  Yet another variety is the style that attaches around your clothing bar with velcro.  These can be used to store sweaters or hats and gloves, but personally I like to use them to store my shoes.

Another MUST HAVE is drawer organizers.  Use smooth sided or the interlocking variety to organize desk drawers, junk drawers or sock drawers.  It makes it easy to see what you have and retrieval of items is quick.

Magazine Holders are another item on our MUST HAVE list.  If you save magazines this is the ideal way to store them on shelves.  It also creates a boundary.  Assign a reasonable number of holders for each magazine title you save.  When the holders are full you need to weed through and recycle the overflow. 

The absolute MUST HAVE is various types of shelving units.  We love shelves!  It keeps you from having to stack things and it makes it easy to access what you need.  Shelving is important especially in storage areas such as garages, basements and attics.
