Tip from Donna:
Having been the mother of teenagers, I have learned a bit about what works and what doesn't work when it comes to organizing with this age group. One thing is for sure most teenagers don't take the time -- or have the inclination to think much about being organized. We do believe though that it is a life skill that you need to teach your children. Best rule of thumb is "Keep it Simple". Clothes are more liable not to end up on the floor if there are hooks to hang them on......hangers and folding take too much time! This age group is a huge asset to the family when it comes to helping out around home. Give them advance warning whenever possible if you are going to ask them to complete some jobs for you. Consider having a family workbee on a regular basis. Set your kitchen timer for 1 hour and everyone works hard and fast on the jobs that have been assigned. Be creative, expect a positive outcome and encourage your children to rise to your "reasonable" expectations. Do you have a friend who is feeling overwhelmed and would appreciate receiving these Quick Tips? Feel free to forward this e-mail!
