Book lovers browsing thousands of books at the Friends book sale! |
Friends of the Library Seeking Volunteers & Book Donations for the Big Book Sale on Sept. 22 and 23!
The Friends of the Library are holding the annual book sale on Sept. 22 and 23. Between now and then, bring in your books, DVD, and CD donations. The books should be in good condition - not mildewed, please! The donated books have to be sorted in various categories. "We need people to help sort the books" says John Wolf, co-chair of the book sale. " If you are interested in helping, the Friends are holding two orientation sessions on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 10 am and at 3 pm at the library. You can create your own schedule for book sorting once you receive training. We appreciate all help."
Book Sale co-chair Brian Smith is making a pitch for teens to help with the sale. Every year local teens help on the days of the sale. This includes National Honor Society students. Brian Smith says, "All Haddonfield teens are encouraged to experience this fabulous book sale. Volunteers are needed to work the sale as cashiers, bringing out and restocking the tables with books, helping people to find their reading and viewing pleasures, clean up after the sale, and lots more. This is a wonderful way to help the library and to gain valuable volunteer experience. And it is fun!" Brian is also seeking box lids for the thousands of books that are sorted before the sale. Last year approximately 27,000 items were on sale!
Susan Reed, chair of the Friends' Membership Committee, is seeking bakers who are willing to make desserts to sell at the Friends' Book Sale Preview on Sept. 21.
To volunteer for any of these activities, sign up at the library on the first floor or email the Friends at www.hfol.org |
