Summer Reading Program "Dream Big, Read" @ Your Library- all summer long!
Each summer, kids preschool through teen are invited to keep track of books they read during our Summer Reading Program. A new theme is introduced each summer, and theme-related programs and incentives encourage members to continue to enjoy reading through the summer. Preschoolers may participate in the program as parents read to them and record the books at the library. A celebration including entertainment and refreshments winds up the program in August.
The Summer Reading Program theme for 2012 will be Dream Big: Read for kids and Own the Night for teens. Sign up started on June 11 and Wednesday, September 5 is the last day to list in Dream Journals 6 books read over the summer to receive a great award in the mail! Dream Big Laser Light Show at Haddonfield Borough Hall on Thursday August 23 at 7:00PM will celebrate the final weeks of the Summer Reading Program. Click here for more information on the Summer Reading program and click here for the schedule of programs!
Parents, if you want some quiet time this summer, check out the Kids page on our website for Cool Links for Kids . You'll find lots of great kids websites that are safe, fun and (don't tell them) somewhat educational. We have a great variety of programs going on at the library for kids of all different ages. Take a look and sign them up!
Don't forget, the library loans books for the Haddonfield school system required summer reading. Visit the library to check out copies and click here for the reading lists. Special thanks to Brian Stafford, Jane Babcock, and Jessica Miller, the school librarians who coordinate with our staff in Tech Services (Kathleen Metrick, Jeannie Reinking, Pam Alles, Cheryl Brady, Sue Stapleford, Linda Roberts) and circulation manager Claire Stairiker, to make sure books are here when you need them!
For more information, visit the Haddonfield Public Library at 60 Haddon Avenue or call 856-429-1304 or see the library's Web site at www.haddonfieldlibrary.org.
