Greetings!
It's a great time of year. The season of giving is upon us. We have some unique giving opportunities in this newsletter. It has been a unique year. A year to count blessings and to extend a helping hand to others. The library has been much busier with the continued economic downturn.
The library will be closed for several days in December. This is due to the difficult budget conditions this year. We apologize for this inconvenience. We look forward to better days in 2011. See the schedule of closed days herein.
The library's balcony area will be painted during the week of Dec. 20-26, when the library will be closed. We are looking forward to a refurbished balcony area, made possible by funding received by the Haddonfield Friends of the Library, from the Haddonfield Holiday Tour of 2009. Completion of roof repairs allow the project to get underway.
The Garden Club of Haddonfield has decorated the library beautifully for the holidays. They do this every year. Please stop in to see the lovely festive decorations.
The Library staff and Library Board wish you great holidays and a sincere wish for a happy and healthy new year. We thank you for so much support this year.
Cordially, Susan Briant Library Director
Past President, NJ Library Association 2009-10 |

Bonnie Rosenberg - Library Board member and Volunteer Extraordinary!
Bonnie Rosenberg was appointed to the Library Board of Trustees 15 years ago. She has been the Treasurer of the Board for the past five years. Bonnie is leaving the board now but will continue her work as a library volunteer. Bonnie was recruited as a library volunteer by Tillie Clement, the former Head of Circulation, more than 40 years ago. Bonnie works at the Adult Circulation desk on Monday afternoons.
Bonnie enjoys quilting, knitting, and of course, reading. She belongs to two book discussion groups. Bonnie made the beautiful quilt in the teen corner of the library. She lives in Haddonfield with her husband, Elliot.
We thank Bonnie for her steadfast service on the Library Board and for her volunteer work at the library. For information on the Library Board vacancy, contact the Borough Clerk, Deanna Bennett at 856-429-4700, ext. 204. |

Generous Gift Received from the South Jersey Charitable Foundation
The Library Board of Trustees is very pleased to announce that the library is in receipt of a generous donation from the South Jersey Charitable Foundation. The $5000 unrestricted gift will be used to reduce budget closing days in 2011. Gene Kain, President of the Library Board said, " This gift came at the right time. The Board has worked hard to balance the needs of the community for library programs and services with reductions in state and local aid. This generous gift will allow us to be open more days in 2011. We are very thankful for the generosity of the South Jersey Charitable Foundation. Investing in the public library is an investment in the future. " |

Events in the Children's Department
The Children's Dept. has many fine books and DVDs on holiday traditions. Take some home to spend happy hours and to share memories with your family.
Cookies took center stage in November as preschoolers decorated gingerbread men, celebrating sharing of sweet treats inspired by Thanksgiving. The story "The Doorbell Rang "(Llaman a la Puerta) by Pat Hutchins was presented to children age 3-6 at Spanish Story Time on Tuesday, Nov. 16. The next Spanish Story Time will be held on Tuesday, January 18, at 1:30 pm. Registration is required for this program. A special thanks to the Haddonfield Friends of the Library for providing funding for these programs.
