What Haddonfield is Reading!
Greetings!

September is Library Card sign up month. One of my initiatives as President of the NJ Library Association this year is to sign up 10,000 new library card holders throughout the state. The Haddonfield Library will be observing Library Card Sign up in a variety of ways. Read about what's happening at the library herein. Stop in and have a cup of coffee with the staff, return your late books, and get a kiss at the library.
The Haddonfield Friends of the Library hold their annual book sale on the weekend of Sept. 12 and 13. You can now visit the sale over the 2 days to purchase books galore. Read about the book bonanza below! Stock up on your winter reading. The Friends will also sell baked goods so savor  delicious brownies while you browse.
The Friends are still collecting books so please clean out your bookshelves and bring them to the library for the sale!
Please consider volunteering as there is a lot of work to be done over the 2 days. See details below.
Teens, please stop in to see the new books in the Teen  Room. Meet your friends and enjoy the comforts of the recently renovated teen lounge. Hope to see you at the library soon!

  Cordially,

  Susan Briant
Library Director
NJ Library Association President 2009-10

Did you ever wonder about all the benefits of your library card? The card gives you access to the library 24/7. Every student needs a public library card to access important electronic databases and E-books that are not available on the Internet. Reading is an important activity for students and for adults for lifelong learning. If you haven't been to the library lately, stop in to renew your library card or get a new one! You'll be surprised by all that your library offers!

Learn about Islam at local author Buntzie Churchill reading on Sept. 30.
Buntzie Ellis Churchill, a local Haddonfield resident, will discuss the book she co-authored with Bernard Lewis called "Islam: The Religion and the People", which was published in 2009.  The book examines Islam: what its adherents believe and how their religion has shaped them, their rich and diverse cultures, and their politics over more than 14 centuries.  The book will be available for sale at the program. A question and answer session will follow. The program will be held at the library.

Buntzie Churchill served for 23 years as President of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. For a decade she hosted "World Views," a daily radio show, interviewing experts on international issues.
The program is free but call 429-1304 to register.
