Greetings!

Calling all book lovers! The Haddonfield Friends of the Library are preparing for their annual book sale. This year they are expanding the sale to a 2 day event on Sept. 12 and 13, come rain or shine. They are now accepting donations from the community. The community's donations are what have made this sale one of the premier book sales in NJ. Additionally, the Friends are seeking new volunteers for specific purposes. Please read about the sale in the articles below.  The Friends thank you for your continued support of this sale, which enables the FOL to do so much for the library. It is another example of why Haddonfield is such a fine community with dedicated volunteers.

  Cordially,
  Susan Briant
Library Director
NJ Library Association President 2009-10

Book Sale Volunteers
Friends need many volunteers for the Book Sale!

Do you like to peruse books and help the Friends of the Library, the library and your community? If so, the Friends are seeking volunteers for the 2 day book sale on Sept. 12 and 13. Tasks for volunteers include: bringing books out on the day of the sale; sorting books; helping customers to find books and to help put them in their automobiles; collecting proceeds for the sale; selling refreshments; and more. This is a fun way to spend a few hours helping your library!
Traditionally, students from the National Honor Society and Key Club help with the sale, as well as many adults and families. Since we are having a 2 day event, we need more volunteers this year. Please call the library at 429-1304, stop in and sign up at the front desk, or email fol@haddonfieldlibrary.org     You will be contacted by the Friends about helping with the sale.  Pictured are volunteers: Ann Kearney, President, Library Bd. of Trustees and Phil Shapiro, President, Haddonfield Friends of the Library.
Bakery Calling All Bakers for the Book Sale!

Do you like to bake? Could you provide a tray of brownies, a cake, cup cakes, cookies or another dessert for the Friends to sell at the book sale on Sept. 12 and 13? The Friends are very interested in providing refreshments for the 2 day sale to supplement the proceeds. Also, some customers stay for several hours and get hungry for a light snack. If you don't like to bake but just want to donate a baked good, this is very helpful, too.   If you are a Friend or just a citizen who wants to contribute, please send an email to fol@haddonfieldlibrary.org or call the library director at 429-1304 if you want to help in this way. This is another way to support your library and Friends group.

 Success Stories @ your library!

The library wants to hear your story of how the library helped to improve the quality of your life. We are collecting stories and will be relaying them to you in a variety of ways, including on our website when the redesign is complete. Stop in and fill out a card so that we can share it.
Here is one story from Ruth Hess, a person without a computer at home, who lives here in Haddonfield.  "I used the library computers for four months to search job sites to locate a position in the Haddonfield area. I found a job listed on Craig's List and am now working at a Haddonfield law firm as a paralegal."  Way to go, Ruth!  We are pleased to have played a part in assisting Ruth to get her new job!

The program is designed to energize the economy; boost auto sales and put safer, cleaner and more fuel-efficient vehicles on the nation's roadways. Consumers will be able to take advantage of this program and receive a $3,500 or $4,500 discount from the car dealer when they trade in their old vehicle and purchase or lease a new one if all criteria are met.
