Update on Library Facility and Services
Many of you may have attended the public meeting on Feb. 19, at the Borough Hall on planning for the library. The Burgers unveiled their recommended report for a larger library facility (recommended size of 22,355 square feet.) Nancy Weber of Oak Ridge Consultants also talked about a process for fundraising to determine if a capital campaign is feasible to raise significant private funds toward the cost of a larger building. Read more about this at www.haddonfieldlibrary.org
Another important step is the hiring of an architect to design preliminary concepts for a larger facility on the present library site. A total of 33 proposals were received and are being evaluated for selection of an architect for this phase. Stay tuned for more information and updates on our website. |
Check Out Magazines at the Library!
Do you like to read different types of magazines? Do you like to do this at no cost? Then come browse our selection of more than 150 magazines. You can take them out for three weeks at a time and renew them once, if no one is waiting. Some are scholarly, like the Harvard Business Review, others are popular titles, such as People Magazine.
The library also has a selection of new teen magazines in its teen corner. Remind your teens that they can check out titles on Gaming, Skateboarding, music and much more.
You, too, can be green at your library by reading books and magazines and by not recycling them.

Roll Out the New Carpet at cost savings!
We are sprucing up the library by sharing services with the Borough of Haddonfield, the Haddonfield Board of Education, the Haddonfield Friends of the Library, and the library. The New Jersey Room on the first floor of the library has new carpeting, paid for by the Borough of Haddonfield. The Board of Education maintenance staff painted the room last summer. Interlocal services agreements were made to share resources, save funds and to meet necessary regulations that govern such arrangements.
The teen corner is under construction with similar arrangements. Watch for news of the dedication of the Teen Corner in coming months. |
Snapshot Day - Ever Wonder about a Day without libraries?
The Haddonfield Library and public libraries throughout NJ participated in Snapshot Day on Feb. 19. We collected statistics of our use, took pictures of people using libraries, and took testimonials from people about how the library improves their lives.
Next month we will post the link to activities so that you can see how important libraries are to the people in NJ. Thousands of pictures are very moving.
Pictured are 3 senior citizens from Haddonfield and instructor Jo-Ann Pure. They learned how to use the keyboard and do basic computing at a class at the library on 2/19. Quipped one, " I got the mouse! Now I can email my grandchildren and save money on my long distance telephone bill." | |
