Lydia Mackey and the Spirit of Giving
Lydia Mackey is a 9 year old resident of Haddonfield. Lydia wanted to help the library. For her ninth birthday in August, she asked her friends and neighbors to donate to the library instead of giving her gifts. Lydia raised $345 Suzanne and Scott Mackey, Lydia's parents, agreed that the funds could be placed in the fund recently set up with the Haddonfield Foundation to save for a better, larger library.
Lydia is an example of what is best in the community at the holidays. She wanted to help her local library and community. She gave generously so that others could enjoy the benefits of the community library. Said Mrs. Mackey, " The Library is such an important part of the community. We've learned not to take things for granted. We like to help out organizations and help institutions that are free in this community." Lydia nodded her agreement.

Local Authors' Autographed Books Available for Holiday Gifts
The library and Friends of the Library have sponsored several author book talks during the last year. Those generous authors, who live in the Haddonfield area, have graciously autographed books that are available for sale at the library. Our talented residents contribute to your reading pleasure. A special thank you to the authors and to our Friends of the Library, especially Cheryl Squadrito Moskovitz. Purchase of the books benefit the Haddonfield Friends of the Library.
All books are $20 each. To see a list of the books available for purchase as a unique gift for your loved one, click here.
The library is a place to give a special book or other items in memory of a loved one. Send an email to : Contact@haddonfieldlibrary.org if you are interested in the book donation program. |
