ANNIE SCHOLL TO SPEAK THIS SUNDAY

ANN SCHOLL RINEHARTLongtime UnityCR member Annie Scholl (formerly Rinehart) will be the guest speaker during this Sunday's 10 a.m. service. Her talk title will be "Life! Whatcha gonna do?" Annie began attending UnityCR in 1998. She joined in 2002 and served as the Marketing and Media Ministry Team Leader until moving to Westcliffe, Colorado, last February. Please plan to attend and welcome Annie "home" to Unity. 
 
BEAUCOUP SHAKTI FEATURED MUSICIANS

Beaucoup Shakti2Join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. and enjoy the music of Unity CR favorites Beaucoup Shakti, the inspirational duo of Sharon Bousquet and Phoenix Jordan. Phoenix Jordan has worked for Disney, Nickelodeon and Universal Studios. She has built her life as a filmmaker, performing arts teacher/choreographer and now a singer-songwriter, bringing her natural talent in vocal arranging, a gift of a voice and early experience scoring her own films to Beaucoup Shakti's sound. Sharon Bousquet is a veteran performing songwriter and a vocal seminar leader, having placed songs and received scoring credit for two films: the Telly award-winning "Sister Patchouli," and a Hollywood independent feature film, "Cosmic Radio." Sharon and Phoenix released their first CD together with 2011's "How Spirit Sings," a collection of songs written for Unity churches around the country. www.beaucoupshakti.com

The Salon will not be in session during August and September as Susan will be out of town on each third Sunday. Please plan to join us in October when we resume!

 

FUN CLUB, AUGUST 19

BrigadoonFun Club, an activity-based adult social group for members and friends of Unity, will attend the musical "Brigadoon" at Starlighter's Theatre in Anamosa on Sunday, August 19, at 2 p.m. This production features Unity members Nancy Dearborn and Jim Greene as well as Unity guests Stephanie Shaffer Martinez, Julio Martinez, and Terry and Harrison Shaffer. Tickets should be purchased individually by calling the box office (319-462-4793) M-F from 5-9 and Saturday from 9-noon. Identify yourself as part of the Unity group so we can sit together. Carpooling can be arranged. Attendees may choose to go to dinner at nearby restaurants in Anamosa or Stone City after the show. SETH BRAUN WORKSHOPS, AUGUST 26-27

Seth Braun will be offering a series of workshops and private counseling sessions on Sunday, August 26, and Monday, August 27. On Sunday, Seth will give a workshop titled "Practical Miracles" after brunch (approximately noon) until 3 p.m. Learn how to create more "good luck" and synchronicities in this session. During the day on Monday, Seth has four 1.5-hour slots available for private counseling regarding health challenges, relationships, prosperity needs, etc. Then from 7 to 9 on Monday evening, Seth is giving a second workshop titled "Creativity, Healing and Wholeness." Experience a positive shift in energy from movement, music, chanting and drumming. Read more about these events here. There is a $25 suggested love offering for the workshops. MEALS FOR DOUG WICK

Doug WickDoug Wick and his family need help with meals. A group of friends called "Warriors for Doug" set up a website for people to sign up for providing meals for Doug, his wife and his two children. The website has a calendar indicating the dates when meals are still needed. All you have to do is click on 

this link to sign up, and then go to the homepage, where you will see the calendar link. At the calendar page, look for the dates with the green shading. If you have any questions, please contact Lisa McGovern at hawkifamily@mchsi.com.

 

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER, SEPT. 13 

Remember that Unity's World Day of Prayer is happening this year on Thursday, September 13. UnityCR will be observing this day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Swanson Chapel. To learn more about this event from Unity's perspective, visit

www.worlddayofprayer.org and check out its offerings. In addition, Silent Unity's Lynne Brown will be posting short video clips to enhance your prayer experience in the weeks leading up to World Day of Prayer. Visit often for the latest updates.

 

BREAST CANCER WALK, OCT. 7

UnityCR will have a team in the "Especially For You" walk against breast cancer on Oct. 7. There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer, and the cost is $20 per walker. If we get a team of 15 walkers, we will be able to have UnityCR and our logo put on the back of our official "Especially For You" T-shirts. See Cory Matejka if you have questions.

 

NANCY DEARBORN OFFERS TRIP TO ITALY IN 2013

ItalyFun Club Director, Music Coordinator and long-time Unity member, Nancy Dearborn, is also a Group Coordinator with Go Ahead Tours, based in Boston.  She is offering a walking tour of Tuscany next year, September 16-26, 2013. Nancy will donate $100 per person to Unity for the first six people to sign up by August 31, 2012.  People can still reserve their space until much closer to the departure date, but there is no rebate after this August.
