BLOCKBUSTER EVENT: MARTHA CREEK TO SPEAK
Please join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. and enjoy the wit and wisdom of Martha Creek. In the grand tradition of Byron Katie's book called "Loving What Is," the title of Martha's talk is, with a sweet Kentucky twist, "Loving What Sucks." Janet Bray Attwood, a New York Times bestseller author, says, "Martha's down home, bottom line, 'what is, is' way of being is a teacher to us all. Martha doesn't just own the knowledge, she is the knowledge!" Each year, UnityCR members flock to hear the message of this amazing minister, life coach, leader and speaker. Come and find out why!
ANNIE SCHOLL AND KELLY SCOTT TO SING
Longtime UnityCR member Annie Scholl (formerly Rinehart) and her dear friend Kelly Scott will be the guest musicians this Sunday, along with Nina Swanson. Before moving to Colorado, Annie sang for a dozen years or so with the UnityCR's Spirit Choir. Kelly, who lives in Marion, has sung in various choirs while living in Southern California and while attending the University of Missouri. The two friends decided to become a duo after their singing in the car one day elicited a "Hey, that's pretty good!" response from both. As an aside, Kelly's daughter, Andie, has performed during UnityCR's Talent Show.
MARTHA CREEK WORKSHOPS, AUGUST 11-12
Our beloved Martha Creek will be having two workshops at UnityCR this weekend. On Saturday, August 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the workshop is "Healthy Self = Healthy Congregation." The content is about doing our own spiritual work and bringing a healthy self to our spiritual community, thus helping to create a healthy, thriving ministry, and a luncheon will be served ($8.50 love offering). Then on Sunday, August 12, Martha will give a workshop titled "The Work: Loving What Is," which runs from noon until 3 p.m. This workshop is based on Byron Katie's personal transformation process called "The Work." There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer (although pre-registration is not required), and love offerings are accepted. For more information, contact Kip Lilly at 319-393-5422.
