SALLY EGGLESTON TO SPEAK; WAYNE NEUZIL TO SING

 

Eggleston, SallyPlease join us for this Sunday's 10 a.m. service when vocalist Wayne Neuzil returns as guest musician. Wayne is a district winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and has starred in 34 different opera roles. Wayne, a graduate of the University of Iowa, has also sung the national anthem at numerous Hawkeye events.  UnityCR member Sally Eggleston will give the lesson this Sunday. The title of her message is "Adjust."

 

SIDING PROJECT CONTINUES, JUNE 30

The building siding team meets one more time this Saturday, June 30, at 7 a.m. If you would like to help out, just show up. No special expertise is necessary!  Special thanks go out to those who have helped so far, including Jim Greene, Thom Hall, Jim Healy, Greg McGaffic, and team leader Brian Zumhof. Brian, who owns Ideal Window and Door Supply in Marion, graciously donated the materials for this project.

 

Freedom Festival Unity Teams, July 1

The Freedom Festival UnityCR Teams will be working at Kirkwood on Sunday, July 1. Team 1 members will arrive at Kirkwood at 4:15 p.m. and work from 4:30 - 8:00. Team 2 members will arrive at 7:15 p.m. and work from 7:30 - 11:00. Upon arrival, check in with Jennifer at the merchandise tent. Volunteers should wear their yellow Festival t-shirts with the UnityCR buttons. Kirkwood maps and parking passes are available from Don. If you wish to car pool from Unity, form your group at church on Sunday. If you have any questions, please contact Don Epley at 319-624-2488. 

 

PRAYER-A-THON, JULY. 6 - 8

JoshuaHaunUCR's Fourth Annual Prayer-A-Thon will last 40 continuous hours from 6 p.m., Friday, July 6, through 10 a.m., Sunday, July 8. Our theme is "PRAYER - BUILDING -CONSCIOUSNESS." Feel free to come into Unity anytime during this commUnity event and participate in the power of affirmative prayer. Donations are still being accepted and pledge packets are still available as our intent is to raise $10,000. You can also use the special Prayer-A-Thon donate button on our website. "CHARACTER OF GOD" CLASS STARTS JULY 7

Rev. Rick Nash will be teaching a class titled "The Character of God," which will meet on three Saturdays, July 7, 14 and 21, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Strong Room. This class will consider what we think the idea of God (Spirit) is. We'll base our discussions on Biblical passages and examine what this "God" thing is all about. Look for the sign-up sheet in the foyer. Love-offering.

 

REV. BRENDA ON SILENT RETREAT, JULY 9 - 13

Rev. Brenda will be on silent retreat from July 9-13. In Rev. brenda's absence, please contact Kip Lilly in the church office (319-393-5422) for any church-related business. Please contact Janith Griffith (319-389-0706) for any pastoral care.

 

LABYRINTH TOUR, JULY 14

Enjoy an early summer tour of area labyrinths on Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. Begin at the Indian Creek Nature Center, where a guide will explain the prairie labyrinth and its use for reflection. You will then be invited to walk several local labyrinths in the area, including UnityCR's. You will receive a map and driving directions to the labyrinths, and you may visit as many as you choose. Consider bringing a journal to record your experience and reflections. Members: $5; Nonmembers: $8 (Indian Creek Fee). The UnityCR labyrinth may be experienced for free at any time.

 

JONNY LIPFORD CONCERT, JULY 15

FUNDRAISING MEETING, JULY 22

On Sunday, July 22, Prosperity Chair and Treasurer Jim Healy will hold a meeting for those interested in developing one or more fundraisers for UCR. The meeting will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the Strong Room. The objective will be to identify prosperity-expanding opportunities that have all the right PIECES (Passion, Ideas, Energy, Commitment, Experience, and Skills) to be successful at UCR. All are invited to attend this exploratory meeting. For more information, contact Jim Healy at 319-310-3140.
