Please join us this Sunday at 10 a.m. and enjoy the music of mother/son duo Stephanie Shaffer Martinez and Harrison Shaffer. Stephanie performs with the Westminster praise band, "Pseudolaic," which appeared at UnityCR in March. Her son, Harrison, will be a freshman at Washington High School this fall, where he will be participating in several performance groups and studying Japanese. This August, the duo will be sharing a stage with other family members and Jim Greene in "Brigadoon" at Starlighters II Theater in Anamosa. Rev. Brenda will give a lesson titled "In the Mirror."

FUN CLUB, JUNE 22

Fun Club will attend "Side Show," an all-volunteer musical fundraiser to provide scholarships for local children in foster care. This show stars Doug Jackson and many other talented area musicians, dancers and actors. It is being held on Friday, June 22, at Dows Auditorium at Coe College at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are general admission with a donation at the door. FREEDOM FESTIVAL PARADE, JUNE 23

Join fellow Unity friends in the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Parade on Saturday, June 23.  We will be meeting at 8:30 a.m. in the UCR parking lot to decorate two convertibles and a large vinyl banner. We will then leave for downtown at 9 a.m. and meet at our designated staging area at 9:30 a.m. The parade starts at 9:55 a.m. and will continue for approximately 1.5 hours. PRAYER-A-THON, JULY 6-8

This year's Prayer-A-Thon, which runs from 6 p.m. Friday, July 6, to 10 a.m. Sunday, July 8, has the theme "Prayer * Building * Consciousness." Volunteers will solicit your pledges, or you can donate using the UCR website's donate button. Proceeds will support the UCR building fund and the general fund, with a tithe going to Silent Unity. "CHARACTER OF GOD" CLASS STARTS JULY 7

Rev. Rick Nash will be teaching a class titled "The Character of God," which will meet on three Saturdays, July 7, 14 and 21, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Strong Room. This class will consider what we think the idea of God (Spirit) is. We'll base our discussions on Biblical passages and examine what this "God" thing is all about. Look for the signup sheet in the foyer. Love offering.
