It's time to spruce up UCR! Help the Building and Grounds Ministry on Sunday, June 10, from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. Clean up our land, weed the south garden, paint the leadership office ceiling and more. UNITY SIDING WORK STARTS JUNE 16
The east side of the building has many places where the insulation is showing through to the outside. Brian Zumhof and the UCR siding crew will be fixing this wall on three Saturdays, June 16, 23 and 30, starting at 7 a.m. sharp. The first order of business is replacing any rotted areas with ½ inch plywood and wrapping all areas to be sided with Tyvek wrap. SUMMER SOLSTICE LABYRINTH WALK, JUNE 20
Join us Wednesday, June 20, for a celebration of Summer Solstice on the UnityCR labyrinth at 6:30 p.m. Following the 6 p.m. meditation in the chapel, we will move outdoors to walk the labyrinth, accompanied by a drum circle, to honor the summer solstice. This event is free.
FUN CLUB, JUNE 22
Fun Club will attend "Side Show," an all-volunteer musical fundraiser to provide scholarships for local children in foster care. This show stars Doug Jackson and many other talented area musicians, dancers and actors. It is being held on Friday, June 22, at Dows Auditorium at Coe College at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. RECENT TRANSITIONS
Dona Stender was the secretary here at UnityCR for about 13 years. She passed away on June 5 at the age of 76. She was at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa. Also, Bernice Webster of Kalona passed away on June 4 at the age of 92. She has mailed in contributions for as long as Kip has been here, at least 11 years.
