Please join us for the 10 a.m. service this Sunday. In honor of Mother's Day, special music will be provided by three generations of the Armentrout family:  Grandmother and 30-year member Jan Armentrout, daughter Nancy Andreasen and granddaughter Katie Andreasen. They will be singing songs of hope and inspiration with help from the Unity Spirit Choir and Band. After the service, there will be a short recital featuring Tom and Sam Werner, Noah Swanson and Louie Brigl. We hope you enjoy the special Mother's Day music! Rev. brenda will give the lesson.

DON RINEHART VISITATION, MAY 11

Our thoughts and prayers are with UnityCR member Ken Rinehart. Ken's father, Don, made his transition on Sunday, May 6, 2012. A visitation will be held at Murdoch Funeral Home (520 Wilson Avenue SW) on Friday, May 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. The memorial service will be provided by Pastor Bob Dagit and Rev. brenda at Sharon United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12.

YOUTH MINISTRY WORKSHOP CANCELLED, MAY 12

The Youth Ministry Summit scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled due to low enrollment numbers. Watch for a future Great Lakes Area-wide Youth Ministry Summit at UnityCR.

PRAYER CHAPLAIN PROGRAM GRADUATION, MAY 13

Join us this Sunday in honoring and celebrating UnityCR's first graduating class from the Prayer Chaplain Program. Barb Buchanan, Licensed Unity Leader and Prayer Chaplain Coordinator, will be presenting the nine members of the first class:  Denelle Beauchaine, Gary Gilbert, Polly Gould, Joshua Haun, Barbara Krumvieda, Judy Maher, Rick Nash, Barb Sherman and Sharon  Stewart. We congratulate you for your dedication and hard work!

FREEDOM FESTIVAL SIGNUP, MAY 13

Exciting news!  A 10-person team of volunteers is being formed to do various tasks during Freedom Festival, June 22 through July 4. UnityCR can receive a $250 donation from the Festival for our team's participation. This event is a great opportunity to contribute to the Cedar Rapids community (and to wear our T-shirts!)  More information on joining the Unity team will be available on Sunday. We will also be inquiring how many people might be interested in representing UnityCR in a Freedom Festival Parade on Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY, MAY 19 

Because of graduation parties and Mother's Day, the Outreach Ministry's Adopt-A-Highway event has been postponed until Saturday, May 19. The time remains the same: 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.  A sign-up sheet will be available at the Center on Sunday.
