MOT DU SECRÉTAIRE GÉNÉRAL
Greetings!

Letter From Arie van Ameringen
Greetings!
...When Rudolf Steiner speaks of the teachings of Christian Rosenkreuz, he describes a spiritual movement which emphasizes the importance of acquiring the practical skills needed for daily life. When a man breaks his leg, do we pity his suffering? Of course we do. But it is also essential that we know what to do in such a case and that we act. The attitude required here is not that of a spectator but rather of a being who can act in full awareness of what the situation requires. Given the fact that electronic tools have taken on a dominant role in our daily lives, education which remains in touch with concrete practical life skills is assuredly a way of facing head on the challenges of the over-dominance of cyber specialisation and of ensuring that our human faculties remain free.
In 1911, Rudolf Steiner gave us essential details into the life and mission of Christian Rosenkreuz. Also, in December of the same year he created a new initiative, an Endowment (Stiftung) under the temporary name of Society for Theosophical Art and Way of Life. This initiative was established under the direct impulse of Christian Rosenkreuz and Rudolf Steiner was to choose ("interpret") a group of people who would be able to undertake free spiritual research. ..Read full article

Seeds of Transformation for the Anthroposophical Community:
The Seven Arts
Plans are well underway for the 2012 Society Annual General Meeting and Conference. A registration flyer will be distributed later in March.
As the conference theme suggests, this year's event will provide participants with successive opportunities to engage in an evolving artistic experience. Participants will be invited to carry the question "What seeds of transformation are seeking to expand in us now?" through an experiential journey across the seven art forms. For participants interested in preparing for this event, we recommend reading Rudolf Steiner's 1923 lectures, The Arts and Their Mission. These can be found on the Rudolf Steiner Archive. The lectures given in Oslo on May 18 and May 20, are particularly relevant to the conference goals and theme.
In order to ensure that the event is attended by representatives from across the country, the organizing committee, led by Society Council members Regine Kurek and Douglas Wiley, is seeking donations to the Society's Members Travel Fund. Donations will be used to assist representatives from groups and branches from across the country in covering travel costs. If you could like to make a donation for this purpose, please contact Mark McAlister at the Society.

Robert McKay

School Of Spiritual Science
LA SECTION D'ANTHROPOSOPHIE GÉNÉRALE - Cliquez ici
 | Monique Walsh |
Dear Friends,
In recent years there has been much focus on the question of research within the Anthroposophical Society. This has naturally led us to conversations about the School for Spiritual Science, the First Class and its task. This in turn has had the happy result of making the School more visible to everyone, of removing what some experienced as a veil of mystery from it.
Concurrently the theme of the General Anthroposophical Section, often referred to as the Universally Human Section, has emerged as a foundational piece and with this the awareness of a need to bring still more clarity to other aspects of the School for Spiritual Science, namely the different Sections within in the School, the North American Collegium and developing section work in Canada.
In an effort to make the Sections more visible to the members here in Canada, I will identify them and list the Section Representatives in North America, together with their contact information. But first, as it has been pointed out to me that not everyone is aware that there are representatives of Sections in North America as well as in Dornach, I feel that a brief history of the Sections and Collegium and its relationship to the Executive Council and Section leaders in Dornach may be of help...Read full article.

Library - Anthroposophical Society In Canada
LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE DE LA SOCIÉTÉ ANTHROPOSOPHIQUE AU CANADA: Cliquez ici.
- by Judy King ...For some time now, the Council has been carrying a question about the Library and its future. We are aware that this library contains a treasure. It is an extensive collection of books, articles and periodicals by Rudolf Steiner and other anthroposophical authors, which are available to all Members of the Society, whether they live in Toronto, or in other parts of Canada.
The Council wishes to start a conversation with the general Membership to gauge their feelings, hear ideas, about how this resource can be most useful today. What are the wishes and needs of Members regarding the Library? In the past four years when the Library has had scheduled opening hours, there have been from one to five visitors per day, which translates to approximately two hundred visits per year; three people asked for a book to be mailed. There are presently about thirty people with books out at any given time. What is living in Members as ideas/imagination for the Society Library? For example, there are some ideas for a research centre. The Council supported Mark McAlister in bringing the Library list on to the internet and in his endeavours to stimulate exchange of ideas. Today there are many other anthroposophical libraries across Canada. Would it be a meaningful task to link them up? We would really like to hear from you all.... Read full article.
