Letter from Torin Finser
The past two months have been very difficult for those preparing to gather at the Goetheanum for the AGM on April 16/17th. At the end of January, MariJo Rogers sent me a hard copy of the Carstens' "no confidence" motion which she had received from a member. Then, in February, a variety of confusing and contradictory emails began to circulate. We alerted the membership on the website regarding the two most controversial motions, but generally wanted to wait for the Goetheanum to publish complete versions of the motions so that we would not inadvertently add to the growing confusion. In early March, Anthroposophy Worldwide (click here) came out with an accurate translation of all eleven motions (which Virginia Sease personally reviewed,
...The approach we have taken is based upon a deep-seated American tradition of making sure that when accusations are made, those addressed have a chance to respond before there is a rush to judgment. It is so easy in this age of email to share bits of information and then give full airing of half-truths. Oppositional forces feed off this kind of public exposure, putting those in leadership roles into defensive positions even before they have had a chance to speak. The very methods used in public discourse today are often dehumanizing.
The General Council [USA] has taken time to review the motions, and MariJo and I have spoken frequently on this subject. We have also been in touch with other General Secretaries and have had phone conversations with individuals on the Executive Council. Some of the issues that are woven through the eleven motions are extremely complex, and I will need the week of meetings before the AGM to better understand them. But I also feel it is important to inform the membership that I intend to vote for the first motion as proposed by the Executive Council and against the second (no confidence) motion.

Let's Paint Together
On The Eve Of The Dornach AGM
Dear friends,
Since Monday night [March 28], when some of us met at Hesperus to have a conversation around the upcoming AGM in Dornach this year, I've had thoughts and concerns, how to go forward.
In a conversation with Dorothy LeBaron today, we thought again, rather than taking one side, it seems important to invite you to join an artistic activity in the spirit of "stepping into the pain of both sides" that make up the polarity which led to the second motion in this upcoming AGM. From this experience of polarities, an open, middle space may be found and held as a support for the new to emerge with the help of the spiritual world to work into this space of "good will". This will be our offering for the next day, the day of the AGM.
We will paint together on Friday evening, April 15, 2011 at 7:00pm. Location: Community Room at the Christian Community, 901 Rutherford Road, Vaughan. (The AGM will be held [in Dornach] on the following day, Saturday, April 16.)
All are invited who carry this in their hearts. Please feel free to forward this invitation to others who may be interested.

Otto Scharmer Refreshes BioDynamics at the Goetheanum
...Then I spent four days with a global group of over 600 biodynamic farmers from around the world, including other key players in the sustainable food value chain, as well as from schools, health, medicine, and inclusive education. Nicanor Perlas and Vandana Shiva (both of them recipients of the "alternative Nobel" Right Livelihood Award) also participated in this conference, which took place at the Goetheanum near Basel, Switzerland. For four days we took this group through the entire U process-a really powerful collective experience that sparked many new initiatives and generated an enormous amount of inspiration and energy. The younger farmers and participants in particular stepped up their leadership role in the movement. This experience reminded me that the whole economic process and all economic theory must start - where? - with NATURE-that is, with the EARTH, that is, with AGRICULTURE. This is why the biodynamic farmers, who are reinventing farming based on sustainability and social and spiritual awareness, are really interesting "acupuncture point" partners in transforming and evolving the economic system. Now everyone is back on their farm, and we will see how this story continues to unfold... Read the full blog post.
