Letter From Philip Thatcher
Dear ,
It has been over a month since the closing evening of the Encircling Light - Expectant Silence Conference in Whitehorse. When the flux of late cancellations and registrations had come to rest, there were 181 participants who came together for one of the most remarkable events in the life of the Anthroposophical Society in Canada. Those of us on the Planning Group are grateful that the mosaic of possibilities we wanted to make available for that week came to fruition. Read more... |

Owen Stanley Lange
..."Even close to the end he was concerned about the family and didn't leave until he had spoken to each of us making sure his concerns would be looked after... and then took off on a tailwind as our son Peter, a mariner, said."
...At Owen's parting a great wind slammed a door shut. It was rather fitting. Read more... |
Geographically Engaged Members Study Group
"...an initiative to support those around North America who have to study spiritual science on their own....The question of how to study together was answered by the knowledge that thoughts are real. If we study the same material at the same time and study on the same day, we are literally studying together. We light a red candle to remind us of each other and of our work together." John O'Meara - The New School of the Imagination: Rudolf Steiner's Mystery Plays in the Literary Tradition, iUniverse Inc., 2007
"John O'Meara, Canadian literary scholar and member of the School Of Spiritual Science, is currently teaching in the English department at the University of Ottawa. He has produced a series of works over the years intended to bring Rudolf Steiner's insights to the attention of academic literary circles-showing why he considers these insights to be essential for a true understanding of Shakespeare in particular, and of Western literature, in general..." ...An excerpt from a review by Eric Philips-Oxford, published in a recent issue of the Newsletter of the Literary Arts Section at the Goetheanum. Poem by John Winkler
This poem was a response to a prompting question from Philip Thatcher in a workshop at the Whitehorse Conference: "Beings lead us into a place. Can we, from the place be led to the Spiritual Beings?"
******* with you great spirit I rise up to the sky, the Heavens, and bring water . . . snow! I flow with torrential movement under bridges and
through canyon portals. I am breath that dances in the leaves, trees and forrests . . . I singe the sky with Aurora's dream and make shadows of color . . . I am the boats resting on the shore of the lake, anticipating
your arrival and waiting to move . . .
(with you, great spirit) - John Winkler, Burnaby, B.C.
