During his many years of teaching, the Siri Singh Sahib shared a vision of the Khalsa woman as a woman who has conquered her inner duality and who lives by the radiance of her own spirit.

In honor of International Women's Day. below please find articles and information relating to some of the teachings of the Siri Singh Sahib on woman as the  Grace of God.

Woman - A Living Legend

Words of Wisdom from the Siri Singh Sahib

SSS smileSiri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji
Excerpts from a talk given on July 4, 1983

What is woman today? Woman is a coincidence of circumstances, times and tribal rituals. Woman has gone through the ups and downs of the time just as the weather goes through the seasons. In modern times, a woman has to go out and find a boyfriend, she has to fall in love, she has to convince him she loves him, she is used, she has to have a baby, one or two, and then he freaks out or she freaks out. That is the era today.

Now it is about psychological counseling and affection; "I love you, and I don't; you are mine, I'm not yours; "Darling, I hug and kiss you; you're a son of a bitch, you are an idiot, I hate you, get out of my sight." This is what I have seen during my fifty years here. Amazingly, it has nothing to do with what I saw when I was a child of three.

When I was a child of three, I saw a woman who was brighter than an angel, more graceful than God, and totally worthy. I am referring to my own grandmother. She was very religious, very polite, very sophisticated, and very dedicated. I never thought there could be any problem while she lived.

I saw a grandfather about whom I thought that if one hundred angels could be blended and juiced together and crystallized, it still couldn't match him. There are no words at my command to describe those two people. They lived separately, they lived together, they went away for months, they came in, they did this and they did that, but I never saw them irritable or cursing at each other. I never saw them yelling, screaming, or even arguing. Once.

You who call yourself a woman and think you are a woman do not know the strength of the woman. Woman is the most powerful channel of God. You do not have an experience of what a woman is. To be very honest with you, woman is the entire "prakirtee." (creativity). Whatever is the bounty, the beauty and the blissfulness, whatever is God's grace, can be summed up by one word, which is "woman."

Woman can purify herself through the power of her prayers. The contact power of the prayer lies in the heart of every woman. This is not the privilege of the man, and it is not the privilege of the beast.

Therefore, a woman who cannot live purely is not a living woman; she is something else.

Woman gives birth through God, and she gives all the good luck and good will, and all the opportunities and all the grace as a mother. You do not understand that when you conceive a child, you can give that child any destiny. You are giving that child a body, you are giving that child praanaa (the life force) and you can give that child ANY destiny you want. It's a guarantee.

Woman the Beloved

Words of Wisdom from the Siri Singh Sahib

BelovedThe Beloved is One who has achieved the radiance of Light of the Infinite, like the bursting sun

The Beloved is the essence of totality and creativity of all that which we call Godhood.

In essence, the Beloved reaches the excellence of Excellence as a female, because woman represents the creativity of God.

When she turns around and touches things, all becomes pure happiness of sublimity to the essence of Godhood.

When she calls, zillions of musicians with divine incarnated song sing the glory and create the sound which gladdens every area where it is heard.

It is the music of music.

It is the life of the life.

It is the creativity of that consciousness which exists once in the experience of Godhood, seldom, but surely,

And that is the status of the Beloved.

It is the ultimate end of every woman to reach that stage.

Everyday Grace

Everyday Grace - The Art of Being a Woman

By Sat Purkh Kaur Khalsa

One of the most ancient symbols of the sacred feminine is the Adi Shakti. The oldest form of prayer, the Adi Shakti symbolizes the lone woman, her arms raised to the sky, curved in a graceful arc, as if holding the entire world and supplicating the universe to align itself with her word. This ancient symbol is the key to unlocking the power of our own sacred feminine. It reminds us of our infinity, our divinity.

The Adi Shakti represents the creative power that lies within every woman. And yet for her Shakti to be in balance, a woman must also relate to her Bhakti, her devotional nature. She must balance the polarities of the woman and the mother within her. Whether or not she ever has children of her own, every woman contains these two unique identities: the woman and the mother. "As a mother you are supposed to sacrifice, tolerate, be very patient, be very thoughtful of others, and understand all the pros and cons of any situation. As a woman you must give nothing; you have to protect yourself first; and you need not tolerate any nonsense. Woman must be able to ascertain which is the correct relationship-woman or mother," sword or shield. (© The Teachings of Yogi Bhajan, circa 1977) Woman is the Shakti and Mother is the Bhakti; every woman must learn to apply these two distinct identities with skill and subtlety. This is her grace.

As a woman, you have the capacity to nurture everything into existence. You also have the capacity to destroy anything in your wake. Discerning when and how to apply Shakti or Bhakti means success or failure in your relationships, your goals, and even your destiny. Balancing these polarities is a woman's grace.
