Celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Life of Guru Nanak

Guru NanakOn Sunday, November 21, 2010, the Sikh Dharma community will celebrate the birth of Sikh Dharma's founder, Guru Nanak.

Born in 1469 to a Hindu family, Guru Nanak rejected the notion of divisions between people based on religion. He taught the Oneness of the Creator and the fundamental brotherhood and sisterhood of all people. He stated that the experience of the Divine dwelled within every person, so there was no difference between people based on caste, creed, gender or nationality. His simple but profound philosophy rested on recognizing the Divinity in all.

The Legacy of Guru Nanak
Words of Wisdom from the Siri Singh Sahib
Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa Yogiji
Excerpt from a lecture on July 3, 1989

Siri Singh SahibGuru Nanak was a kind teacher. His expression was loving and caring. He was subtle and objective. He saw the dreadful pain of the world, and the pleasures of the heavens. He saw the infinity and the greatness of God. He humbled himself in comparative expressiveness of the beauty and bounty of what God presented to mankind to understand what grace is. He brought the integrity in the heavens and the earth to the earthlings to bring them to the experience of totality so that the oneness of God could be established. Through that oneness and experience he said Ek Ong Kaar. There is One God. We do not have the capacity to recognize, realize, act, project or understand, but he was very clear. People threw stones at him. They threw shoes at him. They insulted him. They called him out of rhythm. They called him a ghost. They called him just a poor, humble man. There was so much pain that his very own blood relations insulted him in one way or the other.

But totally merged into the flow of integrity, he continued teaching. He was a missionary. He was humble. He was kind. And he was compassionate. All the goodness earth can have can be said in one word - Nanak. In a very clear, crystal rhythm, he taught with integrity. His divinity was challenged. His dignity was challenged. His personality was totally shattered. Everywhere he faced insult, but he covered himself with a beautiful experience of personal integrity.

We who try to follow his teachings must understand - they're not for him. They are for our experience - into that joy - where I and my feelings, my emotions and commotions, my thoughts and projections, my needs and my fears, my powers and my weaknesses come to one understanding: I AM, I AM. Guru Nanak was the teacher of I AM, I AM.

Yogic Approach to Addiction Recovery: Russia & Ukraine
by Mukta Kaur Khalsa

Dr. Jacob Marshak and Mukta Kaur Khalsa20 years after first visiting Russia, the teachings of the Siri Singh Sahib, Yogi Bhajan, keep touching more and more lives.

In December 1990 Yogi Bhajan visited Moscow and I had the privilege of going with him on the trip.  In fact, I remember a very tender story I'd like to share with you today.  It depicts the hospitality, generosity and spirit of the people of the land.

One afternoon, our host had misplaced the house key where Yogiji was staying.   So, there he was sitting on the steps outside in the cold.  Waiting patiently and calmly, we couldn't forget that it was December!!!  Not knowing any Russian, we knocked on a stranger's door and motioned if we could come in.  Nyet!!!  Oh dear, what to do???!!

We then went to another stranger's door and asked if we could please come in.  Not knowing a word of English, the woman swung open the door and motioned for all 12 of us to enter.  Her husband looking very surprised rose from his seat and offered it to Yogi Bhajan. Read more...

The Yogic Teachings of Guru Gobind Singh
Guru Gobind Singh jiTaught by Amandeep Singh

According to the legend of ancient India there was a great Yogi in the Golden Age. His name was Rishi Dushat Daman. Born as a king he had left his empire to search for the truth within. He meditated for 4 ages on the mountain top of Hemkunth in the Himalayan range.

Having found his realization within, he reincarnated back in the Iron Age to guide humanity. He was 9 years old when he was declared as the 10th Guru in the lineage of enlighten masters starting from Guru Nanak Dev. He became known as Satguru Gobind Singh, the true master - a warrior, a saint, a poet, a householder and a yogi.

Japji Sahib: The Song of the Soul. Composed by Guru Nanak.
Taught by Ek Ong Kaar Kaur Khalsa

Living as a human being is a very special gift. It is through the human body that the Divine Consciousness can know Itself.

Over 500 years ago, a great master, Guru Nanak, laid down a simple path for any person to find the God within. He recorded this path in a spiritual teaching-song called Japji Sahib.  In it, he gives a blueprint for how the Cosmos moves, and how the human identity flows within it

The topics for our tele-classes over two Saturday mornings will be:

December 4: "The Gift of the Human Identity."
We will ground ourselves in the understanding of who we are as human beings, and how to understand the unique spiritual opportunity that this human life has to offer.

Dec 11: "Navigating Life through the Sound of Creation."
We will work on developing our capacity to listen - to the God in ourselves, and to the God in all things. The art and science of happiness, of being content, and of having the strength to live your highest truth comes from knowing how to truly listen.

Saturdays, Dec. 4, 11, 2010

From 8:30 to 10:30 AM Mountain Time, USA.

Cost: $85
