News from the Publishing World:

Full Body Presence

The second edition of Full Body Presence from New World Library is selling well across the country!

What is different in the second edition?
Not too much, the cover has shifted a bit, the subtitle is more clear and concise, and some small edits were made inside. Essentially though, the book is the same, wonderful exploration into Full Body Presence. One substantial difference is that the second edition does not include an audio CD. The audio explorations will be available to the readers as a free download, or a CD can be ordered for a small fee.

That has helped the price drop substantially to $14.95, which we hope will help the book reach many thousands of additional readers.

Greetings!

The last few weeks have been very full of all kinds of wonderful activities - a four-day workshop, several radio interviews and a book signing event for Full Body Presence, visiting with my daughter and lots of organizational focus with some late nights and early morning commitments back to back.

Last Friday I realized I had not taken a full day off in two weeks. I have had a couple of good bodywork sessions and lots of fun with friends and family, but no solid time off without an agenda. It was all good stuff, so I actually did not notice initially. However, towards the end of last week I started to feel pushed and a little irritable. If someone asked me for something I was a bit of a grump. Then I realized what was happening.

On Friday evening I cleared my schedule and climbed into bed with a light magazine around 8pm. At first it felt like I was cheating or doing something wrong. But when I closed my eyes and relaxed back onto my pillow, all my cells cried out, "Finally, you are slowing down!"

A big smile crept onto my face as I drifted off to sleep. I woke up at 4am and considered checking email. But when I asked myself if I felt rested and ready to start my day, I got a distinct "NO!" along with a heaviness in my limbs, so I let it go and fell back to sleep. At 5:30am I woke up again and chose again to let myself drift off to dreamland for a while longer. It was hard in one way, because I still had a lot to get done. It was also a clear and easy choice in another way. My body-mind-spirit was speaking in no uncertain terms. In the end I slept for twelve hours. At 8am when I asked my body if it was ready to get up, there was an energy from deep inside that said, "Yes, I am ready now to start my day - I feel good."

As often as I have done this - it never ceases to amaze me how clearly my body speaks to me. I puttered around doing almost nothing for all of Saturday. I had dinner with family and friends that evening - a meal that I did not prepare or clean up. I would catch myself thinking I should be doing something productive but when I would check inside there was no desire to follow through in an organized manner that would have been productive. I successfully resisted the urge to go back to work too early. With a home office I really have to be conscious about this urge, because there is literally no physical distance between me and what I do for a living!

So, I played in the yard. I played with friends. I took a long, leisurely walk with my husband having no goal or time we needed to return. And I let it be okay. It felt great. By Monday morning, I had given myself enough unfocused time - I had let myself have space to simply "be" without having to "do" anything.

It has taken me a long time to I realize that even though I love what I do, I need to have a balance between work and play. It is easy for me to work too much. Yet when I do, I end up feeling "put upon" and irritable. The key for me is to realize that I am the one in charge and to not blame other people (especially those closest to me!) So this time I successfully navigated my way back to balance. I am walking through this week feeling very different from last week. The pressure inside is gone. Although this week is just as full, I am feeling good within it.

So take a moment now and check in. How is your internal balance sheet? Do you need to create more space to simply "be"? If so, be your own best friend and carve out the time for yourself - you won't regret it and those around you will benefit as well. And, enjoy!

Warmest Regards,

Because, in today's world we all need full access to our inner and outer resources, in order to survive and thrive with the daily demands being presented to us.
