Stay up to date with Healing From the Core and Full Body Presence | News from the Publishing World:

The second edition of Full Body Presencefrom New World Library is selling well across the country!
Visit Amazon, Barnes and Noble or Borders or your favorite bookshop.
What is different in the second edition? Not too much, the cover has shifted a bit, the subtitle is more clear and concise, and some small edits were made inside. Essentially though, the book is the same, wonderful exploration into Full Body Presence. One substantial difference is that the second edition does not include an audio CD. The audio explorations will be available to the readers as a free download, or a CD can be ordered for a small fee. That has helped the price drop substantially to $14.95, which we hope will help the book reach many thousands of additional readers. |

Greetings!
As many of you know, I have become a basketball mom. So the
NCAA tournament playoffs were on non-stop at my house last month. Being me, I
found myself fascinated with how presence and connection played into the
teamwork. However, the event that stood out most for me was not the
winning game (although I will admit to loving almost every game this year).
What I found most riveting was a wonderful example of true presence under
pressure. It happened in the final four, when the West Virginia player, Da'Sean
Butler twisted his knee and went down in agony on the court, unable to move.
What happened next was the true gift. When he did not get up, his coach Bob Huggins - a burly,
gruff-looking mountain of a man - crossed the court and knelt down beside his
injured player. He proceeded to cradle his face in his hands, his own face
inches away from Da'Sean's, talking gently to him, as though the two of them
were the only ones there - seemingly oblivious to the fact that he was being
witnessed by millions. His presence was gentle, loving and yet extremely powerful.I could feel him calling Da'Sean back from the depths of his pain. It was
palpable. More minutes went by. Coach Huggins did not back off - he stayed
right there with Da'Sean - his presence
drawing us all in as he showed his love and caring for his injured player.
Da'Sean began to respond, and finally his other team members gathered around
him to help him off the court. It was a truly moving event - one worth
remembering. We are so used to seeing coaches shouting, red-faced or
looking serious as they pace up and down the sidelines during a game. We rarely
see the kind of deep heartfelt emotion - loving presence - in action on the
court that we saw from Coach Huggins. I want to applaud him. He just widened
the perceptual lens of a nation in terms of how coaches - manly men - can be
with their teams. I think it is no mistake that West Virginia made it to the
final four - with the love of a coach like that, anyone would be motivated to
play to their highest potential. And they did - they almost made it all the
way.
Warmest Regards,

Healing From the Core in the World Simple Moments
Yesterday my partner, who is also well versed in Full Body Presence, and I were taking a walk. As we came around a corner, we saw a small woman ahead of us walking her dog, or rather, being walked by her dog.
After watching for about half a block I got curious. Was there anything I could do energetically that would make their walk easier?
I consciously grounded myself and concentrated on letting my energy move into my back and spine. Generally this is something I do when I need to move in the world with gentle power - it gives me strength, however since I am settled into my back, it is not overpowering or invasive to others.
As soon as I got to that grounded and steady space the dog stopped pulling and walked at the woman's side. Hmmmm... was the dog, a half a block away responding to a calm, powerful and grounded field?
The effect lasted a few moments and the dog pulled out again.
To amp up the power and see if I was just making it up, I asked my partner to do the same thing - using our shorthand of "drop in and get in your back" I made the request.
Again, the dog released the pull on the leash and moved closer to the woman walking comfortably. We kept up our energetic presence for the rest of the block and for most of that time, the dog walked next to the woman gently, occasionally reaching out for a sniff, but not dragging her up the block as before.
I first learned what a difference being grounded and full could make as a parent six summers ago with my then four year-old daughter. We were at Esalen and I was taking my first workshop with Suzanne. What an amazing week it was, yet there were challenges too. Helping my daughter navigate this new and unfamiliar place was so much easier as my skills developed during the week. All these years later, I still pause, feel my feet on the floor and get steady when I need to be fully in the present moment as a Mom. Not that it makes me perfect or anything like that, it simply helps me navigate all the ups and downs more fluidly.
