Happy Thanksgiving from ASDA
In the Loupe

And We are Thankful for...

By ASDA Central Office Staff

Many families have a tradition of going around the table and stating what they are thankful for. In keeping with that tradition, here is what ASDA's  central office staff is thankful for this Thanksgiving (in addition to having great members to work with each day.)

Danielle Bauer, chapter relations manager: I am thankful that I am done traveling for the year and am looking forward to spending the holidays with family and friends.

Linda Cooper, meetings manager: I am thankful for a job I love, amazing colleagues and members, and a husband who supports me in everything I do.

Cheryl Graf, communications manager: I'm blessed to have had an amazing year. 2011 brought me a new job with ASDA, a fiancÚ and a nephew. I'm also thankful that I've made it through most of the items on my "30-before-30" list!

Nancy Honeycutt, executive director: I am thankful for my husband with whom I share a very fulfilling life.

Erin Kato, membership administrator: I am thankful for my two biggest advocates, my sisters. I'm also thankful for my beautiful baby nieces and my amazing work family that put the best spin on a challenging year.

Meghan Keelean, meeting planner: I'm thankful to have amazing family and friends who support me through good times and bad, including helping me finish my first marathon this year.

Ruth Kerns, accounting manager: I'm thankful for friends, family and all things country. I'm thankful for today, because today is another opportunity to get it right and make a positive change.

Bart Lewin, sales and marketing manager: I'm thankful for my family, my health and exciting travel on the horizon!

Kris Okoskey, executive assistant: I'm thankful for my two beautiful children and for my amazing husband who will be celebrating his birthday on Thanksgiving this year!

David Phelps, website administrator: I am thankful that I will be spending the holidays with my family.

Kim Schneider, assistant editor: I am thankful for my ever-supportive family and friends and for making it through the ups and downs of raising a puppy this year.

Angie Wines, administrative assistant: I am thankful for the chance to cook our family recipes with my mom for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm also blessed to have such a strong connection with my cousins and siblings, despite being so far away.

On behalf of your staff in Chicago, we wish you and your families a happy Thanksgiving!

Predental Day at 2011 ADA Annual Session a Success
ASDA logoSeveral predental students attended the second annual Predental Day held Oct. 10 during the 2011 ADA Annual Session in Las Vegas. Students came from schools as close as UNLV and as far as Howard University and University of Texas-Dallas. This event was supported by ASDA and the ADA, as part of the ADA's Committee on Career Guidance and Diversity initiative to educate potential students of the advantages of a career in dentistry.

The program included activities such as viewing live-patient procedures, exploring the hundreds of exhibitors at the World Marketplace Exhibition to learn more about cutting-edge products and services currently on the market, and the opportunity to network with dental students and practicing dentists from across the nation and around the world. The group was led by Dr. Randy Fussell, member of the ADA's Council on Sessions. The pair led the group of enthusiastic students throughout the day and answered questions on the ADA and a career in dentistry.
