Roll Out the Red Carpet for the Gold Crown Awards!
ASDA has combined the Ideal Chapter, Journalism and Delegate of the Year awards to become the new Gold Crown Awards. While the criteria for each award is the same, the presentation at Annual Session will be unlike anything you've ever seen. Celebrate chapter and individual achievements at the Gold Crown Awards ceremony on Friday, March 2, 2012 in Minneapolis. It will be modeled after the Oscars with a red carpet, emcee and other special surprises.

 

Gold Crown Award applications are due Jan. 31, 2012. Criteria and submission instructions are available online. Don't miss your chance to the walk the red carpet and receive the prestigious honor this year!

National Board and DAT Update: Interruption of Testing Services
Share the following information with students at your school: The ADA and Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations are engaged in a major technology project to update the software systems that support the NBDE and the DAT. These changes will impact all testing programs during the month of Jan. 2012 and will affect application processing, DENTPIN application and retrieval, score processing and score report requests. Some changes to the exams include a shorter application eligibility period, time limits for retesting as a result of an appeal and information about examination irregularities may now accompany score reports. Visit the specific exam websites: NBDE Part I, NBDE Part II or DAT.
Register Now for Annual Session and Save $25 Per Person
Registration for Annual Session, Feb. 29 - March 3 in Minneapolis, will be open this Friday. You can save $25 per person if you register by Dec. 16. Online registration information will be sent to delegates this week. Click here for more information.
Recognize your Mentor ---- Nominations Due to the ADA by Dec. 1
Do you know a dentist who has provided exceptional guidance and mentorship to students? Recognize his or her dedication with a nomination for the ADA Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Leadership in Mentoring.

This prestigious award is judged by the ADA New Dentist Committee and the award recipient will be recognized during the ADA 26th New Dentist Conference in Washington D.C., June 22-24, 2012. Read more about the 2011 Golden Apple Award winners in the Oct. 17 ADA News article.

 

To make a recommendation for this award, contact your state or local dental society and request that they complete the Nomination Form and submit to the ADA by Dec. 1. If you have any questions on the program, contact the ADA New Dentist Committee at 312-440-2779.

Chapter Resource of the Month: Presentations for Lunch & Learns
If you are looking for a presentation to show during a lunch & learn or at a chapter meeting, consider giving one from the regional meetings. Presentations on debt management, organizing an international outreach program, various midlevel provider models, encouraging advocacy at your chapter and more are available for your use.

Submit Membership Dues by Nov. 23 to Earn Incentive
The deadline to earn the remittance incentive of $100 is Nov. 23. There is an additional bonus of $50 for chapters that include e-mail addresses for ALL of their members with the remittance.

2012 Membership Update
As of Nov. 9, ASDA's 2012 membership includes 2918 members, including 2787 predoctoral, 121 predental and 7 international dental student members. You may view membership reports here to see a comparison of month-end membership numbers with those of the previous year. You can also download a list of your 2012 members by going to www.ASDAnet.org and click on "Membership Directory" under the Member Resources tab. You select your chapter's name and it will bring up an up-to-date list of members. You are able to download the members (including their names, e-mail, graduation year and ASDA #) into an Excel spreadsheet.

How do I login to ASDA's website?

To login to ASDA's website, go to www.ASDAnet.org and use your last name as your user name and ASDA number as your password.

 

What is my ASDA number and how do I obtain this number?

Every dental student is assigned a number by the ADA after they receive an official enrollment list from your school. This number does not change and is your ADA number throughout your career in dentistry.

 

ASDA and ADA use this number as a unique identifier for each member. This number is included in your record in both ASDA and ADA's systems. You will receive your membership number and benefits booklet 4-6 weeks after joining ASDA. ADA will mail a membership card after January. If you misplace your number, you can contact ASDA at 800-621-8099, ext 2795 or Membership@ASDAnet.org.   

 

How do I change my address with ASDA?

There are three ways to update your contact information, including e-mail address, with ASDA:

  1. Go online to www.ASDAnet.org/update-your-address.aspx  and login as a member using your last name as your user name and ASDA number as your password
  2. E-mail  Membership@ASDAnet.org 
  3. Call 800-621-8099, ext. 2795
