First 5 LA's Spring Family Guide Sometimes, a lot of inspiration comes in little packages.
In this case, I'm talking about a small, colorful and helpful pamphlet we produce each quarter called the Family Guide. Inside, families with small children will find lots of great information about activities, nutrition and events in Los Angeles County, all centered on a theme. This spring's Family Guide, called "Be Active," focuses on local parks and all the healthy benefits children (and adults!) can gain from getting outside to play and exercise. Inside this issue, a Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation veteran employee shares some insight, kids of all abilities can find a city of Los Angeles park playground, an ages and stages guide gives fun physical activities for kids 0-5 to do at the park and there are recipes for healthy snacks to take along. The bilingual Family Guide will be available through libraries, WIC centers and some of First 5 LA's grantees and partners this week. An online version can be found at our Ready. Set. Grow! parenting website, along with past issues. If you want your organization to be a Family Guide distributor, please e-mail info@ReadySetGrowLA.org to request copies and join our future distribution list. Evelyn V. Martinez Chief Executive Officer First 5 LA ### "Evie's Desk" is a regular feature of our weekly newsletter, "Monday Morning Report." Subscribe now or view past issues.
