Evie's Desk: Growing our Cyber Footprint
It seems as though every time I turn on the T.V. or listen to the radio someone is mentioning Facebook or Twitter. Even news progams have social media "fan pages" and Twitter feeds. So on behalf of First 5 LA, I am adding my voice to the chorus of social media users, and I encourage you to join in the conversation! First 5 LA is a dynamic place and we are using these dynamic social media tools to allow you, our stakeholders, to keep track of what's going on with our organization and stay up to speed on developments in the early childhood field.
We use Twitter and Facebook platforms to draw attention to articles and news related topics that are relevant for professionals in the early childhood world, as well as updates on events and meetings First 5 LA is sponsoring or hosting. We also post pictures from sponsored conferences, and grantee sites and welcome you to join us and add to those as well.
I know for some of us it's hard to jump on what feels like a noisy social media bandwagon. But once you become familiar with these tools, you might find that they help you become an even more knowledgeable professional, and by following us you will get a broader idea of just what First 5 LA does in the community.
Feel free to contact our Public Affairs Department if you have any questions about these platforms. But first I encourage you to click here to check out our Twitter feed and click here to become our fan on Facebook. Take some time out this week to explore, if you haven't already. I hope to hear from you on the Web!
