Additions to First 5 LA's Ready Set Grow! Web site
For the past two years, First 5 LA has worked on growing our parent-centered, public education program Ready, Set, Grow! and I'm excited to announce that the Ready, Set, Grow! Web site has recently added some very fun, child friendly and bilingual activities. Since we all know that technology is increasingly a part of our children's lives, I'm happy that First 5 LA is able to offer entertaining and educational options for kids on the Web.
To see the new additions, go to the Ready, Set, Grow! Web site and click on the button on the right side titled Games and Activities. There you will see a list of options for children to enjoy. The first, and my personal favorite, is the Cavity Dodger. Using your computers arrow keys, Tommy the Tooth can move up and down and side to side to avoid the menacing cavities that rain from the virtual sky.
Scrolling down the page, you'll see two sing-along opportunities: Picking Apples to the tune of Frère Jacques, and La Comida y La Bebida, a song in Spanish about what plates and utensils you'll need to eat certain meals. Nestled between the two sing-alongs is also the Tiny Tooth Trivia Quiz, where children and parents answer true or false trivia questions about dental care.
Please share these resources with the families you know and serve. And try not to spend too much time on the Cavity Dodger!
