We're Going Interactive I am very pleased to announce First 5 LA's first interactive Web site component: a "comments section" connected to our weekly articles and event postings where community members can voice their opinions, ask questions and share resources with First 5 LA and with each other. This new function will serve as a forum for online discussion among professionals and interested members of the public.
In a place as large and populated as Los Angeles County, communicating within the early childhood community can be difficult. Attending a meeting or conference can sometimes entail a two-hour commute. This new "virtual forum" will provide a space for early childhood professionals to quickly and easily get your questions answered, and to "meet" others within the early childhood community. When used, it will help break down silos and bring together more closely this large and growing field.
I really encourage all of our readers to take advantage of this important opportunity. As First 5 LA is a public entity, this forum will provide an unprecedented tool for the public to engage with us and each other. And given that First 5 LA will be moving to a new place-based funding strategy, this section is especially timely in that it will allow the community to ask questions relevant to the change.
I look forward to your comments and questions. Let the conversation begin!
