Ricker Achievement Award recipient.  Information about Ellen and the Fall Reception are below.  Please join us at the reception in celebrating Ellen's achievements and those of the NHWBA.

Ellen Musinsky To Receive Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award 

The New Hampshire Women's Bar Association is pleased to announce that attorney Ellen J. Musinsky has been selected to receive the 2009 Marilla M. Ricker Achievement Award. The award will be given to Attorney Musinsky at the annual Fall Reception on Thursday, October 22, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at The Centennial Hotel in Concord, New Hampshire.    
 
The award, named in honor of Marilla M. Ricker, the first woman to apply for admission to the New Hampshire bar, honors outstanding women lawyers in New Hampshire who have achieved professional excellence or paved the way to success for other women lawyers or advanced opportunities for women in the profession or performed exemplary public service on behalf of women. This is the 10th year that the award will be presented.
 
Ellen Musinsky was selected from of large field of very qualified candidates because she stood out as a woman attorney
in New Hampshire who has spent her entire career helping other attorneys through teaching, mentoring and advocating on their behalf. Ellen joined the staff at Franklin Pierce Law Center over twenty years ago and has worked to develop the clinical programs that train hundreds of students in how to be competent, as well as compassionate, attorneys. She has litigated cases at all court levels and been actively involved in the legislative process.  She currently teaches and supervises the students in externships. Ellen was one of the founders of the New Hampshire Women's Lobby and the New Hampshire Citizen's Alliance for Gay and Lesbian Rights. She has served as chair of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and has served on the board of the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union. Ellen has served as a strong mentor and role model for women entering the legal profession, achieving professional excellence along the way
 
Past Ricker Award recipients include Hon. Susan B. Carbon, Martha Van Oot, Cathy J. Green, Mary Susan Leahy, Linda S. Johnson, Deborah J. Cooper, Hon. Jean K. Burling, Emily Gray Rice, Ann McLane Kuster, Mary Pilkington-Casey, Barbara Keshen, Sherilyn Burnett Young and Justice Carol Ann Conboy.

Rainmaking For Women Lawyers Series

**Don't miss this important career building opportunity!**
 
For most of us, having good client development skills will be critical to our long-term success in our profession. Because of the need for this important skill, the NHWBA is please to provide a Rainmaking for Women Lawyers series of workshops to help women attorneys further develop and hone their rainmaking skill set.
 
The courses are offered as a progression that start with self-assessment and planning tools and lead up to a final course where participants will learn useful skills for successfully navigating a real live networking event. Presenters include leading business coaches and law practice experts within the local area. The courses will begin on Monday, September 14th and run bi-weekly through Thursday, November 12th.  All courses will be hosted by Devine, Millimet & Branch in Manchester, and will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Department of the Treasury Seeking
 Legal Services
 
The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) would like to encourage participation from small, minority-owned, and women-owned law firms in response to a pending legal services solicitation.   For purposes of this pending solicitation, and to be eligible for the set-aside portion of any resulting awards, firms with $7,000,000.00 or less in annual revenues will be considered as small businesses.

Treasury intends to issue a solicitation for legal services in support of structuring, implementing, managing, and disposing of troubled assets under the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act (Act), and for similar activities with respect to related, as well as any future, legislation authorizing programs or activities to be implemented by the Department of the Treasury (Treasury) Office of Financial Stability (OFS) and Office of the General Counsel.
 
Treasury plans to solicit offers for the award of multiple indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contracts.   The selection will be conducted pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 15, Contracting by Negotiation, using full and open competitive acquisition procedures. Contracts awarded are intended to provide Treasury with specialized legal expertise to support current and future programs for a term of up to five (5) years.  Treasury intends to set aside two of these awards for the most highly qualified Small Businesses. 

The legal services are expected to include, but not be limited to, the following subject areas:
Equity Investments,
Debt Transactions,
Bankruptcy,
Real Estate,
Structured Products, and
Regulatory.
Small, minority-owned, and women-owned law firms may offer services under one or more of the subject areas.
