What Do You Say Communique'
March 2012 - "Play Nicely"

Monthly eNewsletter

Greetings!
Sarita's Photo

A client told me that when asked what I do, I should simply reply:
"I help people play nicely!"

He suggested that I get rid of my buzzword-ridden "stay-positive-work-together-better" tag line.

Although I probably won't abandon my official tag lines anytime soon, I do think that the client made a good point.   Much of the work I do--staff development, conference keynotes & breakouts, retreats, focus groups--do help people work and "play nicely!"

So...this month's Communique' focuses on resolving conflict and being a positive team member.  (aka - "playing nicely")

Enclosed you will find:
  • Dream Team Traits:  Survey Says
  • Conflict Resolution DO's and DON'TS
  • 5 Clues You're NOT Playing Nicely

I look forward to an occasion to collaborate with you and help your team work together better!

All the Best,

Conflict Resolution DO's and DON'TS

-DO use consultative phrases....(DON'T dictate or demand)
          What do you think about...
          How about...
          Would you be willing to...

          Would you consider...

          Could we try...

-DO seek clarification...(DON'T assume that you understand)
Let me make sure I understand what you're saying...
What do you need from me?
          So what you're saying is...

What would you like to see happen?

In your opinion, how should we resolve this?

"Dream Team Traits:  Survey Says..."

Sarita surveyed managers at a staff retreat on what characteristics they wanted in their team members...here's what they said!     Just for fun, try the word search too!

Kids Taught Early

How to Play Nicely

Conflicts, Conficts
Those irritating conflicts
How they bug me soooo.

Conflicts, Conflicts
Those irritating conflicts
How I wish they'd goooo.

Life's full of conflicts
Irritating conflicts
They won't go awaaaaay.

You just have to solve
Those irritating conflict
To have a peaceful daaaay.
