"We will never forget."

I was touched and inspired by these words inscribed on the wall at the
entrance to the Pentagon Memorial.

While in D.C. for a speaking engagement, I had the opportunity to visit this significant landmark on the day before the 10th anniversary of 9-11.

It was certainly a reminder to me of the importance of  making positive and productive use of the time we have.   Life is short indeed!

In this edition of the Communique' you will find:
  • Inspiration:  "I Know Something Good About You"
  • "Quit Waiting" Excerpt  & Communique' readers comment
  • What Do You Say:  "Phrases of Praise"

I look forward to partnering with you on your upcoming staff education programs!

Quit Waiting

Recently reminded that life is short, I thought this would be the perfect time to revisit this Jack Canfield verse which was included in the Communique' a couple years ago.   (Oct 2009)

It's time to quit waiting for:

Perfection
Inspiration
Permission
Reassurance
Someone to change
The right person to come along
The kids to leave home
A more favorable horoscope
The new administration to take over
An absence of risk
Someone to discover you
A clear set of instructions
More self-confidence
The pain to go away

In other words, NOW is the time to pursue the things you want to do.   Take a look below at what's on the list of some of the Communique' readers.

    I Know Something Good
    About You

    Thanks Lisa Carroll!

I chatted with Lisa following my recent presentation in DC.  She shared with me a poem that had been one of her mother's favorites.

Lisa said that her mother was one of those people who always had something nice to say, but found the poem to be a positive perspective check on the rare occasion when she found herself frustrated.

When Lisa's mother passed away unexpectedly at age 56, reading the poem was a perfect tribute at her
    memorial service.

I hope you find this upbeat poem
    uplifting too!

    WHAT DO YOU SAY?
    Phrases of Praise

The more specific you can be in giving

praise to your employees, the better.

    For example:

"Great job handling the staff meeting
    this morning."

"I liked the way you resolved that client problem."

    "Very thorough report."

Although I'm sure employees will also appreciate a quick one or two word acknowledgement such as:

    "thank you"
    "I appreciate it"

    "I'm proud of you"
    "great participation"

    "well done"

    More Phrases of Praise
