HABITS THAT CAUSE STRESS
(ie- Gobble up your energy pie)
1. PERFECTIONIST
Strategies:
-Ask for help...focus on what other person can contribute -Reality check: Which things can be less than perfect?
2. TRYING TO FIX/CONTROL OTHERS
Strategies:
-Remember...people have been this way since 4 years old! -Serenity prayer: Know what you can fix and what you can't
3. TOO MANY PRIORITIES
Strategies:
-Distinguish between urgent and important
-Set bite-size goals for your non-urgent "Someday I will..." list
4. OVERANALYZING
Strategies:
-3 P's - Most things are not PERSONAL, not PERMANENT and don't affect the big PICTURE...so don't dwell on them
-By the way, if you're reading this and thinking "I wonder what she means by overanalyzing"...then, you're overanalyzing!
5. PEOPLE PLEASING
Strategies:
--Say NO nicely..."I appreciate the offer, however I'll pass."
--Consider the wisdom of Eleanor Roosevelt:
"Do what you feel in your heart to be right, for you'll be criticized anyway."
"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
"The purpose of life, afterall is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences."
