Greetings!
I can't believe it's back-to-school time already and the summer will soon be a distant memory! That also means for many people, vacation is over and it's back to work as well!
In this edition of the What Do You Say Communique', I focus on work in general, and bosses in particular including...
-
a quiz to test your corporate communication
-
results of last month's survey - "what one thing you wish bosses knew"
-
featured phrase to assist you in helping your boss help you!
I'd also like to WELCOME all the newcomers to the What Do You Say Communique' email list...especially participants from my August speaking engagements in San Bernardino, Bremerton, Little Rock and Houston area.
Looking forward to partnering with you on an upcoming staff development program. Enjoy the back-to-school season!

SURVEY SAYS...
Back to School for Bosses!
Last month I asked for your input on what you wish bosses knew. I'll be using this info for a CEO presentation later in the year. The following highlights from the survey results suggest that bosses could benefit from some more "schooling" on how to deal with their employees.
Survey participants suggested that bosses learn the following lessons:.
- It's OK to show emotion and make mistakes
- Need you to be a mentor, not a mother or father
- Ask for employee input...employees have valuable information that boss could use
- Be available...live up to "open door" promise
- Communicate with respect
- Fine tune communication skills
- Find out what each employee values
- Recognize and acknowledge, even in small ways
- Get to know employees
- Show compassion
