August 09 - All About the Audience

Greetings!

Sarita's Photo
Hope your summer is going well!

I recently had a conversation with an audience participant who was surprised--pleasantly--that I  bantered with the audience, had the participants talk with each other and  actually came down off the platform to mix and mingle with the audience...during a keynote speech!

I explained that speaking is really ALL ABOUT THE AUDIENCE!   I've already heard my own presentations for over 15 years!  What keeps it fresh and fun for me--and the audience--is the group's participation and input.

In this month's edition of the What Do You Say Communique', I share insights from my audiences and focus on getting input from others.

Speaking of input...I would appreciate hearing your thoughts in response to my "one-question survey" on what you think bosses should know.

I'm looking forward to an opportunity to create an all-about-YOUR-audience presentation for your Fall in-service, staff retreat or conference event!

 Favorite Audience Insights

Some of my favorite parts of my presentations are words of wisdom originally shared by people in my audiences.

1.  Luck is when opportunity and preparedness meet

2.  Ask:  When history is recorded, will this situation be documented?

3.  Insanity = Doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results

4.  O.P.S. = "Other people's stuff."  How much time are you spending on it?

5. When situations keep turning out the same, remember: "Wherever you go, there you are!"

6. Key to success:  Figure out how to pull rank when you have no rank to pull

7.  If we threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
