We
know many families are worried about their dependents losing medical coverage
when they graduate from high school or college or otherwise age out of
coverage. Health care reform will address this issue nationwide later this
year, when new regulations will go into effect. However, some plan sponsors may
want to make changes earlier, to help these dependents remain insured without a
gap in coverage.

Anthem: Breast Cancer Rescission Allegations
On Thursday, a Reuters news article accused

as well as political statements based upon it.

Healthcare Reform: What Employers Need to Know Now
The
new healthcare reform law passed last month dramatically changes the landscape
of employment practices. Many provisions apply to all employers, regardless of
size or whether the employer currently sponsors a group health plan. Certain
provisions take effect immediately. Others will be phased in over the next
several years. While the law is no doubt complex and touches on many facets of
our economy and society, our nation's employers are in many ways on the front
line of these changes. Discussed below are some key provisions employers should
be aware of now.

Important Medigap Information
The
National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is modernizing the
Medigap insurance marketplace from the prior "1990 plans" to
distinguish them from the "2010 plans". As a result, all
insurance carriers must revise their plan offerings to conform to these
new standard Medigap insurance policies that will take effect on June
1, 2010. In order to
comply with this new regulation, the carriers are in the process of filing
the new Medigap plans for 2010. Until the states approve the filings, no business can
be sold for June 1, 2010 effective dates and beyond.
