House
Health Reform Bill's Impact on Employers
In a 220-215 vote, House
Democrats passed a controversial health care reform bill with only one
Republican voting for the legislation. The Affordable Health Care for America Act
(H.R. 3962) is a combination of three different health care reform bills
approved by House committees this summer and is 1,990 pages with a 42-page
manager's amendment.

Aetna: PA Legislation Extends Coverage to
Dependents Up to Age 30
The state of Pennsylvania
recently passed legislation SB 189, which requires us to offer you the option
to allow dependents who reach the maximum age to continue his or her coverage
to age 30. If you choose this option,
dependents will be covered to age 30 when they apply in writing and agree to
pay the full premium costs for the continued coverage. This legislation will become effective upon
your next renewal on or after December 7, 2009.

AmeriHealth NJ: Medicare Part D Notification Requirements May
Affect Active Employees
As
you may know, health plans that offer prescription drug coverage to their
Medicare-eligible employees, retirees, and dependents must notify them by
November 15, 2009, as to whether that coverage is "creditable" or
"non-creditable." We would like take this opportunity to provide you with
information on the status of AmeriHealth prescription drug plans.
