Department of Insurance: Mini-COBRA
On
June 10, 2009 Governor Edward G. Rendell signed Act 2 of 2009 to help address the growing
need to extend health care options for those newly unemployed.
Employees
laid off by small employers are now eligible for state Mini-COBRA benefits.
Prior to this, only those who worked for companies employing more than 20
people were eligible for federal COBRA benefits. These benefits extend
health coverage under the employer's insurance plan.

The
federal government and the State of New Jersey passed legislation in the past
year that may affect coverage for you.* In an effort to keep you informed of
these changes, we have provided a brief summary of each mandate and a

Health America: Provider Updates
Moses
Taylor, Mid-Valley
Hospitals, and Gnaden
Heutten Memorial
The Moses Taylor and Mid-Valley Hospitals and HealthAmerica have reached
an agreement that provides HealthAmerica members with continued access to
health care services provided by these hospitals.

Highmark: eBDS Transition
By
now you may have heard about the changes taking place with eBDS, the third
party administrator that provides a number of support services for Highmark
clients and other organizations.

Highmark BCBS: Butler Hospital
Contract Settlement
As you may have heard, for the past several months Highmark and Butler Memorial
Hospital have been
negotiating new contract and payment terms for the commercial managed care and
indemnity agreements between the two organizations.

Horizon BCBS of NJ: East
Orange General Hospital no longer part of Hospital Network
East Orange General Hospital has terminated its hospital contract with Horizon Blue Cross
Blue Shield of New Jersey. Under state law, the terms of Horizon BCBSNJ's hospital
contract with East Orange General Hospital are extended for four months through
October 29, 2009, and Horizon HMO members may continue to use East Orange
General Hospital as a network hospital through October 29, 2009 (prior
authorization must be obtained when required).

Horizon
BCBS of NJ: Radiology Groups Terminate
Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has received
termination letters from some radiology groups in its network, effective July
1, 2009. Please be advised that under the terms of Horizon BCBSNJ's contracts
with these providers, as well as the carrier's policy regarding termination,
Horizon BCBSNJ members may continue to access care at an in-network level
through October 31, 2009 (prior authorization must be obtained when required).
