Greetings!
In the mid-90s I had the opportunity to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama when he was speaking on the beautiful Lawn at the University of Virginia. With that famous twinkle in his eye, he put his finger up, just like in the picture below, and said, "Attachment to outcome . . . BIG problem!" I swear he was looking directly at me.
In the past few weeks, it seems I needed to be reminded of that wise and simple statement. That's how Five Ways to Practice Letting Go found its way into this newsletter. I trust this will support your practice like it has mine. (The practice of letting go, that is!)
Last month's Sugar Busters Group was off the charts in its success. So much so that my colleague Dr. Karen Wolfe is teaming up with Dr. Kern to offer this opportunity each month through December. I add my coaching support and guidance too. If you are ready to create a loving bridge back to choosing foods that truly nourish your body and soul, contact me after exploring the info below.
In nourishing joy,
Susan Tate, M.A.

Five Ways to Practice Letting Go
by Susan Tate Excerpt from Wellness Wisdom
 | | "Attachment to outcome . . . BIG problem!"~His Holiness the Dalai Lama | Anthropologist Ralph Blum said, "Relinquishing control is the ultimate challenge for the spiritual warrior." We have a choice to cling to thoughts and beliefs that keep us stuck, in pain or in the illusion of control--or, we can let go, and let God (or whatever you call the Divine) handle the details. It takes so much emotional energy to cling to things we think we can control. When we let go, we gain the time and energy to accomplish so much more in our daily lives. Have you found this to be true? It had once been my nature to cling ferociously to the belief that I was powerful enough to change the thinking of family members, friends, and even entire university committees. I am mighty powerful--but not in that way. I know that my true power comes from honestly and compassionately speaking my truth with integrity, kindness, and compassion and then letting go of the outcome. And it's especially important to let go of the outcome. Pain has always resulted when I got in there and tried to force that oversized round peg into a very small square hole. It is not a quick-fix, fad, nor does it contain any magical ingredients. It is a loving bridge back to choosing foods that truly nourish your body and soul.
