Greetings!
As the days of summer unfold, I have become rather reflective on how I live my life today so that what I leave behind will have meaning. The gentle hummingbird provided the inspiration for this month's brief article: What do you leave in your wake? I am delighted to share the Igniting the Power of the Pelvis Nia workshop in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 5. Tantalizing topic, isn't it? Details below. Thank you to all who have shared how much my recent edition of Wellness Wisdom has supported your wellness journey. I have a request! Would you please take a moment to write a review for the Amazon website? Details are below. To my Nia students in the Seattle area who may have missed the announcement, I will not be teaching at The Dance Space in August. This is the first time I've taken a month away from my teaching practice. Please know I will miss you greatly and will see you in September! Facebook Nia lovers will find my posts on my Nia With Susan Tate page throughout my August travels. In joyful wellness,

What do you leave in your wake?
Musings on hummingbirds and humans
The hummingbirds outside my window have captured my attention as they flit and fly and flutter with such enthusiastic energy. Last week I became fascinated as I noticed the brilliant orange crocosmia leaves vibrating a good twelve inches below these tender, tiny birds. They hovered and flapped their wings while enjoying the nectar of the most vibrant flowers in the garden. They created a gentle but noticeable vibrational wake I had never noticed before. In the midst of nature's greenery and stillness, this bird generates a distinct energy. It made me wonder--what do I leave behind me? I flit through life, flapping my "wings" throughout the days, sucking the sweet (and sometimes choking on the bitter) marrow out of life. I want to leave a wake filled with love, respect, joy, inclusiveness, nourishment, and peace. I want to leave a vision that love and peace and wellness are communicable and can spread like crazy across the entire planet. I want to leave the world a better place--or at least the little sections I get to fly and dance through along the way. James Thurber said, " . . .but the grace of a fine spirit pervades the places through which it has passed." What do you want to leave in your wake? |
Igniting the Power of the Pelvis Nia Workshop in Charlottesville

The pelvis, often called "the seat of the soul," is a powerful container for physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional energy. This workshop combines a loving exploration of these four realms so you can ignite the power of the pelvis. No prior Nia experience necessary. Quote of the Month

But those rare souls whose spirit gets magically into the hearts of men, leave behind them something more real and warmly personal than bodily presence, an ineffable and eternal thing. It is everlasting life touching us as something more than a vague, recondite concept. The sound of a great name dies like an echo; the splendor of fame fades into nothing; but the grace of a fine spirit pervades the places through which it has passed, like the haunting loveliness of mignonette. ~James Thurber
