Doing Downward Dog for Charity
In addition to providing inner peace, attending yoga class can help support Paws 4 You Rescue. Prana Yoga in Coral Gables is offering donation-based classes where all the proceeds are donated to charity.

The Prana Yoga Center has been a Sanctuary in the heart of Coral Gables for over ten years.  Their mission is to provide an opportunity for you to release your daily stress while you tone your body, quiet your mind and refresh your spirit.

Every week in May, the attendance fee from the Friday Night Community Class at 6pm will be donated to our Rescue.  Special guest appearances from adoptable dogs, such as Mr. & Mrs. Schnauzer, went to meet everyone prior to class.

These beautiful and well behaved Schnauzers were abandoned by their owner. Luckily, they have a foster home that can't say enough good things about them.  Under twenty pounds each, these two dogs are perfect companions for any sized family.  Click their pictures to be lead to their online profile.

Thank you Prana Yoga for your generosity and support as we continue saving dogs from euthanasia in our local community.

Dear Friends,

On behalf of Paws 4 You Rescue, I would like to

thank everyone for supporting our Casino Night and those who have made this fundraiser possible.  Having Jorge Estevez from CBS4 makes the night complete.  We all appreciate your support Jorge!

Paws 4 You continues its mission of saving dogs from euthanasia in our community.  Our rescues and adoptions, including our Seniors for Seniors Program, have increased in the past year. We are proud to see our efforts helping advance the community's awareness concerning the spaying and neutering of pets and the importance of vaccination in the animal's health protocol.

Our volunteers and rescue animals send a HUGE thank you the Cowan Family for graciously opening their home to us.  And their generosity in supplying the beautiful atmosphere and dinner that we enjoyed.

Paul, Kathy, Carol, Jen, Rita & Romano

All of it could not have been possible without their kindness. We are especially happy they adopted Cherry from Paws 4 You a few months ago and have given her the love and forever home she needed. She was the guest of honor who loved being around everyone all night!

Much appreciation goes out to Rita Schwartz, who along with Kathy Cowan, organized this event for our Rescue which raised $20,000. Further thanks to the White Lion Restaurant for preparing and serving dinner and to Sweet P Cupcakes and Dairy Queen for our delicious desserts. Thank you all for your support in making this night fabulous for all our guests.

And a special thanks goes out to all our Sponsors who continue to stand behind us: JoAnn Roberts Realtor, Gottahalfit.com, Gables Auto Tag Agency, Williamson Cadillac, B3 Freshly Baked Dog Treats, Dr. Luis G. Diaz-Rangel, Invisible Fence, Rossway Moore Taylor & Swan and Baker Plastic Surgery.

Terrific Silent Auction Items were donated and if you click here to review the Casino Booklet, you will notice some of those companies on page three. Melissa and Chanel were integral in making this part of the fundraiser a success. Great job!

Casino Party Nights Florida Inc. successfully provided everyone with an elegant and fun atmosphere. Romano was very instrumental in providing a true gaming experience.

I am also so grateful to all of the guests for being there and supporting our Rescue's work. And last but surely not least, there are so many of you that need to be recognized for all the behind the scenes work put in to such a fabulous event. From Valerie and Dolores for their creativity to Debora Rosenn for the great photography. Plus all the volunteers who attended to support one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.

Paws 4 You could not operate or continue our mission without everyone's generosity, hard work and support.

With deepest gratitude,

Carol's Signature

WE NEED YOU!!!
Paws 4 You Rescue is in real need of good foster homes for our dogs.  With more fosters we can save more lives!  While many dogs are housed in our small shelter, others are in foster homes and are thriving with better attention and one-on-one handling. We have need for many different types of foster homes and something might suit you!

We have need of homes for various situations. A few examples:

  • dog hit by car and needs a quiet place to recuperate before he or she can be adopted
  • dog has heartworm and needs to be kept quiet while the medicine works
  • mother dog has puppies and all need a place for her to nurse in a quiet environment
  • puppies brought in without their mother
  • other foster families have to go on vacation and need someone to care for their foster for a week or two
  • dogs currently at our shelter could benefit from a loving home to learn about family living

If you think you would be at all interested, please attend one of our "foster information meetings" held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7pm or the first Sunday at 10am.  Orientation meetings are held at Elegant Stitches, 8841 SW 132 Street, across from the Falls.

The dates in June are Wednesday, June 1 and Sunday, June 5. We will talk about what will work for you in your home and how you can really help save a life.

Please send an email to jeannie@paws4you.org stating when you will attend. If you cannot attend, but still want to learn more, send an email and we will get in touch with you.

Be a part of our exclusive PAWS 4 YOU COOKBOOK

coming out in a few months.  Please enter your favorite recipe in any of the following categories: Appetizer, Main Course, Side Dish, Dessert, Doggie Favorites, and Miscellaneous.

You can enter as many as you like.  We'd love to see a picture of your Paws 4 You Rescue dog to accompany the recipe, along with any anecdotes about your dish (favorite of your mother or grandmother, make it every year for Thanksgiving, favorite birthday cake, etc.).

The more recipes we receive, the better our cookbook will be!

Once compiled and printed, the cookbook will be available for sale at all our events.  We hope this will be a great fundraiser for our organization - you'll want one for everyone on your holiday list, of course!

Please help us be successful by entering your favorite dish this week (so you don't forget).  Submit all recipes and pictures to recipes@paws4you.org with "recipe" in the title line and we will take it from there!

Another Paws Volunteer Recognized at SFVF Luncheon

Congratulations is in order for another Paws 4 You Rescue volunteer!  Judi Hess was awarded the Volunteer Hero Award by the South Florida Veterinary Foundation this past Sunday.

Every May, the SFVF holds a recognition luncheon called People, Pets & Vets to honor those individuals who are making outstanding contributions to animal welfare and veterinary medicine. Nominees are animal and people heroes that make our community and lives a truly better place.

On top of her daily help, Judi was instrumental in forming a new relationship with PetSupermarket that has helped Paws 4 You's recognition grow in our community. People are even more familiar with our Rescue than before because now we are seen everywhere from Tropical Park's special events, to Coconut Grove to Pinecrest. With this added exposure, the Rescue can place more dogs in loving homes which then allows more to be saved from euthanasia.

Without Judi's patience, love, support and help on a daily basis, Paws 4 You Rescue would not be where we are today - a top rescue group in South Florida!

Thank you Judi from all your two and four legged friends at Paws 4 You Rescue!

A Lemonade Stand for Charity

There's something wonderful about setting up an old-fashioned, do-it-yourself lemonade stand on a Saturday afternoon. Even nicer: watching a group of eager, smiling children selling drinks and treats on the lawn and giving the money they earn to charity. Not only do the kids feel the satisfaction of helping a worthy cause, they also get to practice math skills and have a great time mixing and sampling recipes.

Earlier this month, Paws had some help from neighborhood friends during our Yard Sale Fundraiser.  With their hard work, as well as some great volunteers and members of the community, we collected just under $3,500.

Thank you everyone for all the continued support!

Surgery
for
Princess
This poor Dobie, named Princess, was found on the side of the road and left for dead. She wanted to live which is why the Rescue rushed her to seek medical attention right away.

The Rescue called upon an orthopedic surgeon to mend her broken bones. Princess had TWO major operations last week to repair a splintered pelvis and broken femur. Even after the Rescue's courtesy discount, Princess's surgical bill was just under $5,000.

Princess is in good spirits and recovering quite nicely at her foster home. We knew that supporters would come to her rescue by donating enough money to pay for her surgeries.

Please donate $15 today toward Princess's Surgeries.
