| IMPROVING PATIENT MIX |
|
| Attracting Rehab Patients
With tightening financial pressures facing skilled nursing facilities, continued success mandates that managers increase the preferred patient population mix to include more short term rehab patients. The competition for these patients is tough so what can you do to bring in patients with higher reimbursement?
One way to attract short term rehab patients is to communicate your facility's favorable outcomes to current and prospective referring physicians. Remind doctors of your special programs, skilled staff, and other attributes that make your facility a great place for patients to come for short term rehabilitation. Identify three strong selling points and back them up with testimonials, pictures, and data.
To get the attention of busy physicians, it is essential to develop key messages and deliver them in an effective way. Doctors are surrounded by gatekeepers and filters to prevent your message from getting to the healthcare provider. Plus they like to receive information in a certain way that makes life easier for their busy lives. Read our article, " Cultivating Physician Referral Resources" for some suggestions to improve your communications with doctors.
Stackpole & Associates has the skill and experience to design and deliver the information physicians need to influence their referral decisions. Contact me today to discuss how we can help you improve your patient mix and increase the number of patients with higher reimbursements. |
