VNG Check Present

Del. Chris Peace presents $63,200 job training grant to Mike Broz of Nestle Purina from Virginia Jobs Investment Program at the recent groundbreaking ceremony for the 12 Mile Natural Gas Pipeline in King William County.

Message from Chris

T.S. Eliot wrote in The Wasteland in 1922 that April is the cruelest month.  I am not sure whether that is the case but I do know it was busy!  The month started with great gusto on April 1st in King William where the first extension of natural gas service to the county was announced.  Having worked on this project for several years I was extremely proud to be able to deliver on this important resource for economic development.  Del. John Cox and Sen. Ryan McDougle and I presented the following week to business and community leaders at the Hanover Association of Business and Chamber of Commerce ( www.habcc.com ). On April 12th, I visited the farthest part of our district in support of the Spotsylvania GOP.  The event at Lake Anna Winery was well attended and those present heard inspiring words from 1st District Congressman, and my former House seatmate, Rob Wittman.  I would like to thank Congressman Rob Wittman for his service to our community.  Cong. Wittman is a man we can all be proud to know.  I am delighted to endorse Rob Wittman's candidacy for the Republican nomination for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives serving the First Congressional District of Virginia.  He has worked hard to represent the values and needs of the 1st District.  I look forward to continuing to work with Congressman Wittman on behalf of our shared constituents in the 97th District.  If you reside in the 1st Congressional District, please remember to go to the polls on Tuesday, June 8 and cast your vote in support of Congressman Rob Wittman.

To all who attended our 4th annual Tax Hangover breakfast on April 20th, thank you!  We had a record crowd at Riverbound Restaurant and were graced with the presence of Speaker Bill Howell who announced to those present that he had just appointed me to the Joint Commission on Health Care.  It is a big honor.  The next night I attended a Habitat for Humanity event and spoke to the Fraternal Order of Police Hatcher Cole Lodge.  Of course, April 21st was our Assembly Reconvene session where we considered Governor's amendments to the budget and bills from Noon until after 9 pm!  Congrats to the VMFA on their opening which Ashley and I attended on April 25th after celebrating the kick-off to our Road to Revolution State Heritage Trail project at St. John's Church with Governor McDonnell.  Closing the month I attended the Governor's announcement on his new Housing policy initiative, presented with the Attorney General to the Richmond Bar Association and co-hosted a town hall meeting with Caroline Supervisor Maxie Rozell.  I wanted you to get a snapshot of what I am doing as your representative when we are not in Session.  Let's hope May is as eventful!

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Please take a moment to help my friend Scott win the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man of the Year Award.

Through research, blood cancers could be the first cancer cured and these efforts will greatly speed the rate at which other cancers are cured!

Although Scott agreed to carry the torch in this fundraising event, I certainly know he cannot do it alone.  That is why I have agreed to help him out with such a worthy cause.

Hopefully, you are willing and able to help as well.  A donation of just $25 covers the cost of one prescription co-payment for a cancer patient, so every donation helps!  Please go to the fundraising website and show him that our community supports his efforts.
