I am a DNP student and have had the most interesting semester in my Biostats course which is my elective for the final semester. Dr. Mays is the faculty member and she has truely demonstrated innovation. Using webcasting she provides face-to-face presentations and uses a polling tool to "check" and see if the we are getting the information and can apply it (and this is recorded if we can't be there to participate live). I believe this is a great innovation for students that are working adults some from outside the Phoenix metropolitan area.How might this apply to your world?

ASU Nurse Managed Health Centers announces:
Electronic Health Records GE Centricity System
"Go Live"
ASU Nurse Managed Health Care staff has successfully completed the first phase of a two part implementation of a fully integrated electronic health record system. The staff is now using the electronic practice management functions of the GE Centricity EHRS product to make appointments, create schedules for the provider staff, maintain practice database and submit claims for third party billing. The second half of the installation will take place over the 2009 calendar year. When completed, all ASU NMHC sites will be using a patient documentation system that includes clinical decision making support and electronic prescribing.
Objectives:
- To promote optimum patient care in a team Nurse Managed Health Center system
- Increase patient safety thru portability and error-free documentation
- HIPAA compliant system that provides for secure storage and transfer of Protected Health Information
- Increase understanding of how Health Care Providers adopt an electronic health record system
Funding for the entire project is provided in part by a research grant thru AHRQ, with additional funding provided by United Healthcare. ASU's implementation team is lead by Dr.Denise Link, with additional team members including Ali Hajaig, Denise Evans, Leslie Nowak and Andrew Smith.
