Every scar has a story. Mine, on my face & hand, came after I rolled from the counter onto a stove burner when I was 3 months old. Although I don't remember the incident there are plenty of painful memories. Lots of hospital time & times I've felt deeply flawed. God, however, has been by my side all my life. Great comfort has come especially through prayer, including Reinhold Niebuhr's "Serenity Prayer", the prayer to accept something I cannot change.

But I just discovered a new treatment that can change old scars. A specialized laser that passes the surface skin and penetrates deep to stimulate new tissue. It promotes healing from the inside out. Which leads me to the question tie in. Have you ever been listening to a song when a lyric just jumps out at you? That happened to me recently with Natalie Grant's song "Perfect People".

There's no such thing as perfect people.

And there's no such thing as a perfect life.

So come as you are, broken and scarred.

Lift up your heart and be amazed.

And be changed by a perfect God.

Can God keep changing us? May we have the courage to change what we can.  And did you know there is a second part to Niebuhr's classic prayer? Enjoy the serenity of it's final stanza.

Living one day at a time;

Enjoying one moment at a time;

Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;

Taking, as He did, this sinful world

as it is, not as I would have it;

Trusting that He will make all things right

if I surrender to His Will;

That I may be reasonably happy in this life

and supremely happy with Him

Forever in the next.

Amen.
