The Planned Giving Committee presents "Navigating the Elder Care Maze," by attorney Samuel J. Starks, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Sunday, April 3. The event is the third in a series on elder care issues hosted by the church. Refreshments will be offered at 11.

 

Led by Starks, the discussion will offer insight on planning for health, housing and expenses. Starks has more than 25 years of experience in the practice of elder law and estate planning. Prior to entering the private practice of law, he was employed by the office of the inspector general of the federal agency that administers the Medicare and Medicaid program.

 

He has also served as an adjunct professor of health law at Pace University Law School and has experience serving on the board of directors of the Southwest Connecticut Agency on Aging, the Stamford Senior Center and the Smith House Health Care Center, as well as the ethics committee of Visiting Nurse's Association/ Hospice Care. He frequently appeals to professional and civic groups on the legal issues involving elder and health law and estate planning, and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law attorneys, the Connecticut Bar Association and the Fairfield County Bar Association
