With fall approaching all too quickly, I must admit that it reminds me that the holiday season is just around the corner as well.  Shoppers get ready; you only have 79 days left until Christmas!

Why not make your holidays easier and truly meaningful this year.  Imagine having a child with cancer and at the same time trying to deal with the economic difficulties that we are all experiencing.  These families truly want the "bear necessities" to get through the holidays where they are attempting to have some normalcy in their homes.  They are trying to purchase the basic needs rather than gifts or put food on their holiday tables.

In lieu of gifts make contributions, purchase "bear" merchandise on our website, adopt a Small Miracle, host a toy or gift card drive and watch our website for further ideas as the holiday approaches.  We can guarantee helping a child with cancer during the holidays will be the best gift you can give and one can receive.

Fondly,
Kathleen

FEATURED SMALL MIRACLE

 Danny

Danny

Dear Bear Necessities,

I want to thank you for all the support you have given us since Danny was diagnosed with leukemia (AML) on May 20, 2009 (3 days before his 2nd birthday).  I just love your organization and plan to financially contribute on a regular basis so that we can help others.  We've also spread the word about your organization too.  What a wonderful thing to do in Bear's memory.  I think of him often.

Danny just loves his playset which is wonderful because of his chemo treatments and low immune system, he couldn't even go across the street to play at the playground/park.  Now he has lots of fun in his own backyard!

Still, it's been difficult having to see him in this condition, cancelling his 2nd birthday party, not being able to take him swimming because of his PICC line, having to cancel swim lessons, having to cancel an already-booked flight to Denver to see his great-grandmother, and not being able to take him around crowds (no grocery shopping with Mom, no parks), but the playset gives him so much fun when he's home and in between treatments.  Despite the difficult times, seeing Danny respond so well helps us do well and seeing him enjoy his playset just warms our hearts.

Thank you again for Danny's Small Miracle!
