Dear Friends,

September is Childhood
Cancer Awareness Month, acknowledging and honoring the more than 12,500 children diagnosed every year in the United States as well as the 270,000 childhood cancer survivors.*

Thirty years ago, few children with cancer lived, but now almost 75% are cured thanks to modern medicine's success stories.

While great strides have been made, one child battling this disease is too many. Just ask any parent who has heard the words "your child has cancer". Every day I am reminded of hearing those words myself when we speak to a parent of a newly diagnosed child. Please help us make a difference in these children's lives until the day that the words cancer and children are not in the same sentence.

TEAM BEAR CAR WASH
A Team Bear member, Cathy Konow and her family and friends (Rod, Matt, Pete, Stacy, Olivia, Zack, Cheryl, Marcus, Adam and Sharele) held a car wash in front of her home and raised $520 dollars for Bear Necessities! Konow stated, "We had a great time and we had many generous people!!"

Dear Bear Necessities,

Thank you so much for the trip to Wisconsin. It was so much fun. We were able to spend family time and enjoy the trip. We really want to thank you. This was our first time going to Wisconsin. We always wanted to go and thanks to Bear Necessities we took a trip. Christian was very happy he would get in the pool and play all afternoon. He was so excited. Here are some pictures we took. We hope you like them. Thank you again, we had the greatest time of our lives.

BEAR NECESSITIES - WHITE SOX OUTING

Lundstrom Umpire Exhange

Matt Lundstrom walking out the line-up card!

On August 4th, over 200 BN familes, staff members, and supporters came out to US Cellular Field to cheer on the White Sox and raise money for Bear Necessities.

Board Member Eric Lundstrom won the auction and surprised his son Matt the night of the game, informing him that he would be walking out on the field to exhange the line-up card with the umpires!

Thank you to everyone for supporting Bear Necessities (whether a Sox fan or not!) and making the night so much fun and such a success!

F.O.R.E. GOLF OUTING
Raises over $3,000 for BN *Left to right, Dr. William Johnston, Richard O'Hara, Jen Smith and David Farrell* On July 13th, Richard O'Hara hosted the 1st Annual F.O.R.E. the Bear Golf Outing at the Oak Brook Golf Club. The fun-filled day included course contests, a silent auction, and a raffle. We are so grateful to Richard and all those that made the day such a success!
