WHAT'S IN BLOOM?
Winter is upon us and clusters of small fragrant flowers rest like snowballs on our beautiful Myoxanthus. One of approximately 50 species, this Latin American orchid's name is derived from the Greek for "dormouse" and "flower." The genus is closely related to Pleurothallis but is not often seen outside of personal collections.
Mayoxanthus is located in the Highlands Gallery, along the northwest side of the 'pit'. Its bloom should last through the holiday weekend.
